Summary

Wenham Carter is retained by a fast-growing provider of advanced fault monitoring and grid automation solutions. We are seeking a Business Development Manager to accelerate growth in the North American market. This is a strategic role focused on delivering real-time fault detection and diagnostics through innovative sensor systems integrated with SCADA infrastructure. The ideal candidate brings a strong technical foundation, proven B2B sales experience, and a passion for next-gen monitoring and IoT technologies.


About the Role:

As a Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for identifying market opportunities, building strong client relationships, and driving the adoption of online fault monitoring systems across utilities and industrial sectors. You’ll play a key role in shaping the company’s presence in a dynamic and evolving technology landscape, working cross-functionally with technical, sales, and marketing teams.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively identify and engage prospective clients, industry influencers, and strategic partners to generate leads and grow market share.
  • Understand industry-specific challenges and translate client needs into tailored, high-value monitoring solutions.
  • Develop and execute targeted business development strategies aligned with revenue growth and market expansion goals.
  • Monitor emerging technologies and competitor activity to inform strategic planning and product positioning.
  • Collaborate with product, marketing, and technical teams to create effective sales tools and materials (e.g., quick guides, questionnaires).
  • Track and report on KPIs, sales forecasts, and business development activities to senior management.
  • Maintain and expand target account lists, working closely with internal sales teams to drive conversions.
  • Represent the company at key industry events, conferences, and technical seminars.
  • Travel as needed to support client meetings, presentations, and events (domestic).


Your Profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technology, Business, or a related field (advanced degree a plus).
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in business development or technical sales within industrial tech, automation, IoT, or SCADA environments.
  • Deep understanding of fault monitoring systems, sensor technologies, and SCADA integration.
  • Track record of generating new business, managing complex accounts, and closing technical sales.
  • Ability to articulate complex technical solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and consultative selling skills.
  • Strong collaboration and coordination skills across cross-functional teams.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and planning abilities.
  • Willingness to travel across the U.S. as needed.
