Our client is currently looking for a Business Development Manager to join their growth strategy in Florida for the Geotechnical side of the business. They are a leading global organisation and geotechnical specialist contractor and excel in tackling geotechnical challenges across the five continents. Established in 1910 they have over 10,000 employees worldwide executing major projects globally.



About the Role

This role plays a critical part in identifying growth opportunities, forming strategic partnerships, and driving revenue for an organization. They act as the bridge between the company’s offerings and the evolving needs of the market.



Responsibilities



  • Analyse market trends, customer needs, and competitive activity to uncover new business opportunities.
  • Leverage engineering knowledge to analyse infrastructure, construction, and development trends.
  • Identify emerging markets or sectors (e.g., Multi-family, transportation, energy, commercial development) where geotechnical or structural services can add value.
  • A strong presence in the Florida market and is currently looking at senior sales opportunities for the Central FL region.
  • Business Development and Client Retention
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of qualified leads through networking, referrals, cold outreach, and industry events.
  • Engage with developers, general contractors, consultants, and public agencies to understand project needs and offer tailored solutions.
  • Build and maintain a strong network within the engineering, construction, and civil infrastructure communities.
  • Develop and nurture relationships with potential clients and strategic partners.


Technical Proposal & Bid Strategy


  • Collaborate with engineering teams to develop technically sound proposals, prequalification packages, and bid strategies.
  • Translate complex engineering solutions into clear value propositions for clients.
  • Work closely with engineering, estimating, operations, and marketing teams to align client expectations with technical delivery.
  • Ensure accurate scope development and cost alignment during the pursuit phase.


Strategic Growth & Opportunity Capture


  • Identify long-term opportunities aligned with the company’s geotechnical and structural capabilities.
  • Pursue partnerships or joint ventures that enhance service offerings and geographic reach.
  • Maintain accurate records of leads, pursuits, and outcomes using CRM tools.
  • Report regularly on business development progress and market trends to senior leadership.



Qualifications


  • Degree in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical Engineering
  • Field experience in geotechnical/structural design or construction is highly valued


Required Skills


  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Understanding of construction procurement, design-build, and public/private project lifecycles
  • Strong network within the developers, owners, construction or engineering services industry
