Position Summary:
The Business Development Manager will grow and sell services for Sage Logistics Services. The sales rep will be the main point of contact for new and existing customers. The chosen candidate will develop and maintain relationships with his/her customers. This includes opportunities for both Sage Truckload (assets) and Sage Freight (brokerage).
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify opportunities for brokerage and asset services. Develop and grow relationships with customer contacts.
- Create sales funnel and actionable steps to close and implement brokerage opportunities.
- Work closely with our Operations Team to build out a sales strategy to grow the brokerage operation in the assigned region and markets.
- Collaborate with internal teams -including our carrier teams, customer operations and sales.
- Grow and evolve market knowledge for quoting customers on all business opportunities.
- Ensure customers are being serviced at the highest level possible.
- Responsible for preparation and submission of RFI/RFPs for potential clients.
- Responsible for maintenance and management of the sales funnel within CRM tool.
- Responsible for identification of and communication of potential growth opportunities.
- Responsible for meeting key growth metrics to include total revenue and margin.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous sales in transportation brokerage experience required.
- Expertise in transportation brokerage, planning and development.
- Strong knowledge of the trucking industry
- Preferred book of business
- Bachelor’s degree
- Strong communicator with the ability to build long lasting relationships.
- Energetic, relentless, and thriving on hunting for opportunities
- Strong sales negotiation and closing skills
- Constructive problem solver
- Proficient in Outlook; intermediate in Excel and Word
- Knowledge of Salesforce CRM is an asset
You will be given support from an operations team so that you will not be responsible for cradle-to-grave cycle. This role offers a base salary with the potential to earn a performance-based bonus tied to sales results.
