Business Development Manager – Field-Based

The Business Development Manager (BDM) is a field-based role focused on managing customer relationships and driving sales growth for a designated technology brand across a defined customer base. This includes promoting the brand’s products, services, and value proposition in collaboration with internal account managers and business unit leaders.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop business opportunities within existing customers across multiple business units.
  • Identify and onboard new customers, with a clear emphasis on expanding market reach.
  • Build strong, professional relationships with key decision-makers, ensuring customer satisfaction and reinforcing the company as a preferred distribution partner.
  • Deliver internal and external training to enhance product and service understanding.
  • Collaborate with sales teams to manage the end-to-end sales cycle, from engagement to order fulfillment.
  • Plan and execute promotional activities and support trade shows or customer-facing events.
  • Establish strong vendor relationships, forming a cohesive partnership between the distributor, customer, and vendor.
  • Work cross-functionally with internal departments such as finance, operations, customer service, supply chain, and sales leadership to ensure unified service delivery.
  • Conduct regular business reviews with stakeholders to track KPIs, address challenges, and refine strategic plans, providing meeting documentation and ensuring timely follow-up actions.
  • Attend and present at quarterly reviews and strategy sessions as required.
  • Utilize internal systems to monitor sales performance, interpreting and communicating data effectively.


Essential Requirements:

  • Proven ability to meet or exceed profit, revenue, and margin targets.
  • Excellent communication skills, with strong listening and interpersonal capabilities.
  • Sales acumen, with the ability to engage stakeholders at varying seniority levels.
  • Confident in delivering presentations and engaging audiences effectively.
  • IT literate, with a capacity to quickly adopt new systems in a digital-first environment.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to plan and prioritize workload.
  • Experience interfacing with senior-level stakeholders to maximize commercial opportunities.


Ideal Requirements:

  • Previous experience in an external, customer-facing business development or sales role.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop business plans that benefit distributor, customer, and vendor relationships.
  • Strategic thinking and execution experience.
  • Comfortable working across multiple business functions in a collaborative environment.
