Summary

Role Summary/Purpose of the Job


Seeking a motivated, proactive, energetic professional to assist the U.S. Business Development team in handling all business development and marketing administrative activities for the firm’s U.S. Dispute Resolution Practice, reporting to the Head of Global Business Development for the Dispute Resolution Practice. Position provides growth and learning opportunities as well as the chance to work with international offices on a daily basis.


Key responsibilities and deliverables

  • US-wide BD Reporting: Prepare and maintain reports focused on business development Proposals/Client Meetings: Researching, drafting and assisting with materials (pitches, brochures, relevant thought leadership) for client meetings and in response to RFPs. Liaising with lawyers, business development colleagues and our design/production team throughout the process and most often under tight time constraints. Logging and tracking outcomes in Salesforce.
  • Experience Collection and Management: Maintain database of up-to-date standard marketing slides and attorney biographies to facilitate quick responses. Own creation of biographies for new joiners.
  • Directory Submissions & Awards: Assisting with first drafts of Chambers, Legal 500 US and other relevant directories, as well as one-off awards for practices and individuals.
  • Client Targeting: Supporting development, implementation and follow-up activities surrounding client plans and client visits. Tracking progress of initiatives and meetings and coordinating with other groups or offices targeting the same clients.
  • Events: Assisting with client seminars/conferences/webinars, preparing invite lists, mailing invitations, coordinating conference materials, executing on the event and ensuring proactive follow-up, liaising with Events and CLE teams, as necessary.
  • Practice Group Support: Assisting with preparation of materials for internal practice group meetings, such as business development activity reports, event summaries and agendas, and liaising with the finance and practice development teams on materials, as necessary.
  • Research and Analysis: Undertaking internal and external research and analysis on clients, targets, markets, competitors, rankings, etc.
  • Client Mailings/Contact Database: Coordinating mailings for client newsletters and briefings. Maintaining mailing lists and updating as necessary, using relevant systems in coordination with our CRM resources.
  • Website/Blogs: Updating and amending the contents of relevant sections of the firm’s website and blogs, liaising with the website team as appropriate.
  • Law firm referrals: Tracking inbound and outbound referrals.
  • Public Relations: Coordinating with internal public relations team to assist with various media-related opportunities.
  • Other: Additional duties may be assigned. Position may require irregular work hours around key deadlines and events.


Key requirements (Communication/skills/experience)

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • One to three years of business development or related experience in a professional environment desired.
  • Experience with full MS Office Suite desired.
  • Candidate must have:

  • the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment

  • strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Experience responding to Request for Proposals (RFPs) is a plus.
  • Experience with corporate law (Dispute Resolution) a plus.


For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in New York and California or reporting to someone in those states, Freshfields is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This compensation range is specific to the States of New York and California and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $70,000 to $90,000.
