Summary

Role Summary

  • Partner with Business Unit (BU) management to work towards achieving consistent profitable performance.
  • Liaise with Group’s Corporate Control and different business teams to ensure the finance department is supporting effectively operating businesses’ requirements on trade facility, data analysis and contract review.
  • Preparation of statutory accounts for the BU’s holding company and various subsidiary companies, as and when required in accordance with relevant accounting principles and country legislations.
  • Ensure and drive prompt setup of business entities (WOFE, JV, partnership, representative offices) in SEA (e.g. Vietnam) for business investment and expansion.


Key roles and responsibilities

Business Partnering and Performance Management

  • Preparation of budgets, forecasts and business plans, and monitor business performance continually
  • Be involved pro-actively and provide timely financial information to enable a balanced assessment of the BU’s strategy and objectives.
  • Ensure timely preparation monthly performance management reports
  • Manage BU’s working capital with specific attention to stock, debtors & inter-company cash management.
  • Work with Treasury department to drive initiatives to increase BU’s credit and trade facilities.
  • Support BU Head to ensure that Vietnam projects (stockpile sites and chipmills) are operating efficiently and profitably
  • Manage overheads actively; seek areas for efficiencies.


Statutory Accounting and Tax Management

  • Responsible for overall journals and final GL balances including review of month end balance sheet reconciliations and control accounts.
  • Ensure the integrity of BU’s accounting records and financial systems.
  • Ensure returns for Income Tax, GST/VAT and other relevant taxes are submitted, payments made on time and all relevant regulations are complied with.
  • Manage inter-Business Groups/Units transfer pricing policies
  • Manage relationships with auditors, tax advisers and other relevant parties.


Corporate Governance and Controls

  • Ensure that JV and subsidiaries business processes are aligned to RGE Group policies.
  • Drive initiatives with BU Head and subsidiaries’ controllers / finance managers to improve existing business control processes.
  • Implement risk assessment processes and embed a risk management culture throughout the organization, especially with respect to cash management, inventory control, tax compliance and trade execution.


Team Management and Coordination with Stakeholders

  • Manage and ensure that the finance teams in Singapore and Vietnam are motivated and performing.
  • Drive potential outsourcing of capabilities that can leverage on external parties’ commercial scale and capabilities
  • Keep key internal stakeholders up to date on progress against key performance milestones.


Knowledge, skills, experience and competencies

  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Master’s Degree would be added advantage
  • Minimum 8 to 12 years’ related experience, with the most recent 5 years assuming business or finance controlling responsibilities.
  • Possess solid technical knowledge of finance, accounting standards especially in SE Asia and China.
  • Possess good business & financial acumen with strong communication skills.
  • Possess strong problem solving and strategic thinking skills.
  • Knowledge of SAP enterprise finance/accounting or equivalent will be preferred.
  • Experiences in commodities trading and/or bulk shipping business, setting up new business entities (WOFE, JV) in SE Asia would be an advantage.
  • Team player, results-oriented and performance driven
  • 3rd language e.g. Vietnamese or Thai or Bahasa Indonesia would be advantage
