Job Summary
The Bus Driver will be responsible for driving the children safely to and from the various camp activities and trips. Â The driver will report directly to the Recreation Supervisor or the Camp Supervisor and will have a direct schedule and route to follow. Â
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Follows the route and directions as provided by the supervisor for various trips.
- Responsible for maintaining the discipline of children on the bus, and their safety.
- Performs both pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Records and reports any needed repairs, mileage and other pertinent information to the supervisor.
- Follows directions provided by the supervisor.
- Communicates any problems with children, staff, etc. to the Playground Supervisor.
- Works cooperatively and professionally and is courteous to all staff, children and parents involved with the program.
- Assists on trips and assumes other duties as directed by supervisors in between driving times. Â Â
- Ensures that all required work is submitted, complete and on time. Â
- Remains knowledgeable of disciplinary procedures and ensures a safe environment for children and staff.Â
- Wears staff shirt at all times, and dresses appropriately for working with children.
- Work varied working hours as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education And/Or Experience
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- At least 21 years of age.
- Five (5) years of driving experience, during which time you held a valid driver's license.
Required Certificates And/Or Licenses
- Valid Maryland Class A or Class B commercial driver's license (CDL) with passenger endorsement and airbrake endorsement, or an equivalent license from another state - copy of current driving record is required at time of interview. The employee must maintain the license for the duration of their employment.Â
REQUIRED SKILLS (Communication/Language; Mathematical; Computer; etc.):
- Knowledge of Maryland State, and local traffic laws and regulations.
- Knowledge of the roads in the Frederick City area.
- Effective written and communication (English) skills needed to communicate with children, parents, and staff as needed and to accurately follow written and spoken instructions.
- Writing skills
- Ability to satisfy all Department of Transportation requirements as they apply to periodic physical examinations and licensing standards.
Other Desirables
- First Aid & CPR certified.
