The Building Engineer is responsible for assisting in day-to-day maintenance, engineering, and all general duties assigned. The Building Engineer practices proactive maintenance to ensure that the Center remains in excellent condition. In this hands-on role, the Building Engineer will have the opportunity to interact with individuals throughout the Center, utilizing problem-solving skills. This position requires an enthusiastic and diligent individual.

Job Responsibilities

The Building Engineer performs various duties to ensure the proper upkeep of Shepherd Center

Accountabilities:

  • Assists efforts which promote solutions for preventative maintenance, repair, or fabrication of equipment needed for the Center.
  • Performs plumbing, simple electrical, HVAC mechanical equipment, carpentry, door/locks, building round and other duties assigned
  • Occasionally works overtime and weekends.

Required Minimum Education

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent. At least 5 years of experience in maintenance field.

Required Minimum Certification

  • None Required

Required Minimum Experience

  • Minimum of five years of plant maintenance experience including but not limited to chillers, boilers, and HVAC.
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational and verbal communication skills.

Required Minimum Skills

  • Must have knowledge of plumbing repairs, and basic electrical repairs.
  • Must be able to read procedure documents.
  • Requires a working knowledge of preventative maintenance procedure.
  • Must be able to perform plumbing and mechanical skills on equipment; can read blueprints/schematics to assist in repair of equipment/building.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to stand for long periods and the ability to lift heavy equipment.
  • Potential to work in cramped or uncomfortable spaces, climb ladders and work with manual tools.
