Position Summary
The job of Facilities Engineering Building Automations Systems Technician (BAS Tech) was established for the purpose/s of providing & coordinating installation, repair and maintenance of the computer-based controls system that controls and monitors building mechanical and electrical equipment. Performing a wide variety of skilled maintenance & engineering activities (e. g. plumbing, electrical, HVAC systems, Direct Digital Control, Fire System Control, Generator Systems, Computer Monitoring Systems, boilers, etc.) and any other duties as directed;
Education, Training, Experience, Certification And Licensure
BAS Tech: High School graduate or recognized equivalent plus formal trade/vocational school training or five (5) years related experience.
Participates in orientation and continuing education in order to maintain the knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise. Completes population specific competency annually on populations served as identified in scope of care and service.
Special Equipment, Skills Or Other Requirements
Minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a millwright, steamfitter, plumber, HVAC or tradesman in a commercial, industrial or healthcare setting.
Special Skills/Equipment: Working knowledge of computer skills and Microsoft Outlook, Building Automation Systems (Insite & Desigo) and BACnet technology. Working knowledge of Plumbing, Electrical, HVAC, and Refrigeration. Must have the ability to read and interpret blueprints and prepare material takeoffs. Design and comprehend Control Sequencing.
Ability to use standard hand tools, machinery and equipment plus precision measuring tools.
Must have the ability to complete rotating shifts, weekends and holidays, as needed.
Work Environment And Hazards
Industrial setting: Clinical setting occasionally. Exposure Class I. Potential exposure to blood, body fluids, excretions or secretions. Occasional exposure to situations that could cause moderate to serious injury or illness, including but not limited to use of hand tools, power tools, operation of machinery and equipment, confined space entry, materials and equipment cleaning utilizing various cleaning solutions.
Specific Performance Criteria
- Provides emergency response to all hospital mechanical systems as required
- Oversee & Perform if needed General Electrical, Plumbing and HVAC functions.
- Oversee and Performs routine Preventive Maintenance and repair on BAS & Pneumatic Systems
- Performs Operator Coaching and Training
- Oversee and Performs Calibration & Inspection Services on equipment and systems
- Design & Comprehend Control Sequencing
- Supports planning, design & construction / renovation project installations as assigned
- Works efficiently and completes assigned tasks in a timely manner
- Projects a positive and professional image of self and the hospital
- Understands and has a working knowledge of the DDC System & Fire Systems
- Analyzes blue prints, schematics, and drawings for the purpose of determining the efficient installation of new or upgraded systems
- Ability to use AUTO CAD for as-built updating and project design
- Maintains / troubleshoots / repairs / optimization of BAS
- Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit
- Project Management and Coordination of BAS Upgrades, Renovation and New Construction Projects.
Pay Range: $30.00-41.40
Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
