Position Summary: Critical thinker and self-starter, willing to go the extra mile and stay committed to educating themselves in our constantly changing field. Candidates should have extensive experience with installing, inspecting, and repairing of building automation systems. Candidates should also be comfortable working with little to no supervision and possess a strong work ethic and team mindset. Responsibility Summary: Conduct preventive maintenance, repair, installation, commissioning, and general servicing of automation systems. Perform point to point check out to verify that controls systems have been installed properly for new work and are running optimally for existing work. Requirements and Qualifications: Extensive knowledge of complex digital controls systems, including diagnosing, troubleshooting, networking and integration as well as the ability to load and update software on network controllers, field controllers, computers and servers 3-5 years BAS prior field experience (We are not seeking entry-level applications) Distech/N4 Experience strongly preferred Vocational School four-year program graduate or Associate’s degree in electronics, mechanical systems, computer technology, air conditioning or similar field preferred Knowledge of industry tools, multimeters, ethernet testers, etc., and the ability to effectively utilize these tools and reading and understand control schematics. Safety-minded and knowledge of OSHA safety regulations Strong verbal communication skills, ability to explain complex BAS issues with customers in a way they understand Critical-thinker, problem-solver, ability to think outside the box Current valid driver’s license for operating motor vehicles in the state of New Jersey Must be punctual and adhere to a daily schedule with multiple appointments in different locations Must have professional appearance, strong writing abilities, computer skills, strong customer service skills Duties & responsibilities: Travel to customer locations for service and installation work, often multiple daily, as scheduled. Perform installation, testing, system diagnostics and commissioning from system-level controllers to end devices for installation & repair projects. Complete, compile and submit job documentation such as commissioning documentation, punch lists and/or control submittal markups to capture field changes and discrepancies for the engineering team to create As-Builts for project related work. Perform preventative and predictive maintenance service activities to ensure optimal performance of system along with submission of work tickets, maintenance checklists and repair quotes if applicable. Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair and/or replace control components and controls systems. Also, the ability to identify mechanical, HVAC and electrical issues as related to the BAS Control system operation. Communicate with customers upon arrival and before leaving the work site. Meet regularly with customers to become familiar with operating problems. Keeps customer informed on the nature of service provided, outstanding issues and recommends system enhancements, upgrades, and or replacement. Initiates proposals for recommended repairs and reinforces the importance of preventative maintenance. Collaborate with service manager/service coordinator, project manager and/or subcontractors daily to coordinate activities as required in an ethical and professional manner. Reports problems or changes to management immediately. Perform and executes assigned work efficiently and professionally follow all company and customer safety policies and procedures. Maintain all site locations for safety and cleanliness before, during and after services are provided. Conduct extensive self-study (reading, research and practice) to improve and maintain technical proficiency in the Distech Controls product line and complete relevant certifications as required.
