Part-Time Temp Position
Basic Function and Responsibilities: The BS BTA Academic Advisor will serve as first point of contact for all enrolled degree completion students, which include the following service components: basic financial aid/accounting guidance, registration processes/forms, LMS knowledge and troubleshooting, orientation/identification of readiness, personal/spiritual support, and academic concerns. The BS BTA Academic Advisor will provide the support necessary to navigate the educational system at Biola.
Duties
Customer Service:
The BS BTA Academic Advisor will provide the highest level of customer service as the first point of contact for enrolled students in select online programs. The BS BTA Academic Advisor will participate in answering questions, providing program and school information and guiding the enrolled students through the entire program. It is their job to make the students feel comfortable, informed and acknowledged. They will serve as the first point of contact of customer service needs.
Administrative Support:
The BS BTA Academic Advisor will be responsible for administrative student support that includes: enrollment and registration in the program, assessment of student readiness, and confirmation that academic requirements are met. The BS BTA Academic Advisor will also be responsible for the maintenance of administrative data and maintaining consistent communication with the students until program completion and graduation.
Coaching:
The BS BTA Academic Advisor will serve as a personal coach and academic counselor assisting students with: entry information, advice for academic success, and tools for career development in their selected field of study. The BS BTA Academic Advisor will also be the source of knowledge on how to navigate through a program until graduation. Additionally, they will provide personal and spiritual support as needs arise.
Advising:
Helping students qualify for admissions and preparing them for any potential entrance exams will also be a part of the day-to-day tasks for the BS BTA Academic Advisor. As advisor, they will also coordinate the class load and schedule for the students until their graduation. They will be responsible for the student's success at the time of transitioning into the online classroom setting.
Financial Aid:
The BS BTA Academic Advisor will assist students with basic Financial Aid inquiries. They will also serve as the point of contact when online students are having difficulties obtaining answers.
Graduation Assistance:
The BS BTA Academic Advisor will work with students to make sure all graduation requirements are met and help with any paperwork that needs to be reviewed and submitted. They often audit the records of the student to determine eligibility for graduation.

Qualifications:
General: Public and interpersonal communication skills, dynamic, positive attitude, strong interpersonal relationships with students and faculty alike, commitment to Christian higher education, capacity for service to students, serve as an articulate spokesperson for the mission and values of the institution, ability to work across traditional administrative lines, self-motivated, ability to motivate and impact others, passion and ability to guide, encourage and advocate for adult learners. Education/Experience: Possess a bachelor's degree. The qualified candidate is an academic administrative professional hired to establish good rapport with current and prospective students. He/she has 1-2 years of experience in admissions, advising, career counseling, or in an admissions/academic operation setting. Skills: Oral and written communication, critical thinking, and problem solving skills; research ability, attention to detail, computer literate (Windows/Mac), proficient with Microsoft Office, experience working with diverse populations, an understanding of the unique challenges that face adult learners, the ability to interact in a positive manner with a varied student body and the ability to work with different departments in an administrative manner.
