General Job Description : Boiler Operator will be responsible for performing all necessary functions to keep the boiler operating continuously. These functions may include; cleaning grates, cleaning drop outs, regenerating softeners, filling brine tank with salt, greasing and oiling fan and conveyor shaft bearing, monitoring boiler gauges, checking fuel levels in silos, cleaning floors, other general maintenance on equipment. This job may require that the person work weekends and a variety of shifts as the boiler is manned 24 hours a day, seven days a week. At times the boiler operator may help the millwrights and electricians perform maintenance.
Experience or Training Required: No formal education is required. Orientation will consist of 30 days of on-the-job training. This person will be required to attend MSDS and Lockout/Tagout classes. All safety rules and regulations will be explained to the operator, and they will be required to follow them.
