Position Overview:
We are seeking a part-time Biomedical Engineer to support our laboratory operations by optimizing diagnostic instrumentation, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and assisting in research and development efforts. The ideal candidate will have experience in medical device technology, laboratory automation, and quality control in a clinical or research setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform or assist in the maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs and calibration of laboratory equipment.
Support the development and optimization of diagnostic instrumentation and automation systems.
Ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, and FDA regulations regarding laboratory equipment and diagnostic devices.
Document and report on equipment performance, troubleshooting processes, and system improvements.
Maintain comprehensive repair and maintenance logs on all in-house equipment covered by the scope of this role.
Identify, implement, and document maintenance protocols for new test systems
Provide technical support and training to lab staff on the proper use of biomedical laboratory testing instrumentation.
Qualifications:
Education: Associate's, Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field or similar certification program.
Experience: At least 4+ years of experience in a laboratory, healthcare, or medical device environment performing duties as described in this job description.
Technical Skills:
Knowledge of laboratory automation, medical device integration, and diagnostic testing methodologies.
Familiarity with instrument calibration, validation, and regulatory compliance.
Experience with data analysis, troubleshooting, and process improvement.
Soft Skills: Strong organizational and analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work independently in a part-time capacity.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a clinical laboratory or diagnostic testing environment, with a heavy emphasis on LCMS
Previous experience with laboratory instrumentation to include liquid handling robotics, mass spectrometry, and molecular diagnosticsand other typical pieces of laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
Work Schedule & Compensation:
Part-time: Flexible schedule (15-25 hours per week).
May require limited offsite travel to attend training classes as needed.
Compensation based on experience.
