We are looking for a Bioinformatics Associate to join our team and contribute to the analysis of NGS datasets with a focus on gene editing applications. At Profluent, we work at the intersection of AI-driven protein design and cutting-edge gene editing technologies. In this role, you'll work closely with experimental scientists, providing computational support and developing custom bioinformatics tools to analyze high-throughput sequencing data.
This is an excellent opportunity to shape the future of AI-driven protein design and to work cross-functionally with a diverse team of experts across machine learning, protein engineering, cell biology, and gene editing.
Responsibilities
* Collaborate with experimental scientists to analyze data from high-throughput gene editing experiments.
* Develop custom bioinformatics tools for processing and analyzing NGS sequencing data, ensuring scalability and robustness.
* Support experimental biology workflows, including guide RNA design, primer design, barcoding, library design, and more.
* Automate bioinformatics workflows using scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) and manage scalable cloud pipelines for large-scale data analysis.
* Document code clearly and communicate findings and insights to colleagues, presenting complex data in clear, actionable formats.
Qualifications
* BS or MS in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or a related field in quantitative biosciences.
* 2+ years of academic or industry experience in bioinformatics or a related field.
* Proficiency in Python, including familiarity with data analysis libraries (e.g., numpy, pandas, Jupyter notebooks, biopython).
* Experience with bioinformatics sequence analysis tools and methodologies.
* Experience with Linux environments and version control (git).
* Hands-on experience analyzing data from molecular biology experiments.
* Proficiency with at least one data analysis and visualization tool (e.g., R, matplotlib, seaborn).
* Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred (but not required)
* Experience with cloud-based platforms (e.g., Google Cloud Platform, AWS) for data processing and storage.
* Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Nextflow, snakemake)
* Familiarity with containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) for scalable data processing.
