The Gig
We’re looking for a BigCommerce consultant who can do more than build a store — we want someone who can wire it into a well-oiled machine. This role is for a creative, code-loving ecommerce engineer who’s just as comfortable tweaking front-end UI as they are mapping out complex integrations.
You’ll be part of a small, agile team where ideas move fast, and projects actually launch (imagine that). You’ll bring storefronts to life
and make sure the gears behind them hum.
What You’ll Actually Do (besides silently judging outdated APIs):
- Build gorgeous, responsive BigCommerce storefronts that convert and delight
- Customize themes with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Stencil — and make them pixel-perfect
- Set up smart integrations with CRMs, ERPs, 3PLs, marketing platforms, and whatever acronym soup the client’s using
- Automate workflows between BigCommerce and backend systems using APIs, webhooks, or duct tape (preferably the first two)
- Connect payment gateways, tax tools, shipping providers, and all the stuff nobody notices until it’s broken
- Help us plan scalable, future-proof workflows that don’t fall apart when a client adds a new SKU
- Write clean, well-documented code that doesn’t make the next dev cry
- Translate client wishlists into real features (or tactfully tell them when they’re being ridiculous)
You Might Be Our Person If You
- Have 3+ years of BigCommerce experience and can wrangle the Stencil framework in your sleep
- Know your way around REST APIs, Zapier, Make/Integromat, and custom integrations like a digital Swiss Army knife
- Can spot a broken webhook before the error log loads
- Think through workflows before writing code — you're not just building features, you’re building systems
- Are familiar with the full ecommerce stack: inventory, fulfillment, email marketing, tracking, you name it
- Like solving messy problems and making things just work
Perks & Details
- Project-based, part-time — hustle friendly
- Fully remote (work from your couch, coworking space, or the moon)
- Flexible hours — results > timesheets
- Competitive pay, chill team, fast feedback loop
To Apply
Send us your resume, a few links to BigCommerce builds you’ve worked on, and a short blurb about your favorite integration nightmare and how you conquered it. Bonus points for code samples, workflow diagrams, or memes.
