POSITION SUMMARY: Under general supervision from the HR Director, the Benefits and Compensation Manager is an individual contributor responsible for supporting the agency strategy with employment branding, retention and attraction by managing the benefit plans offered by the agency. Additionally, they are responsible for ensuring accurate, relevant market data is sourced to allow leadership tools to make decisions to support staff compensation. This incumbent will use their leadership abilities to maintain confidentiality and support NVIHs commitment to providing first class benefits and compensation package.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS : The list that follows is not intended as a comprehensive list, but rather to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) will be required to perform a variety of duties listed, including but not limited to:

  • Maintain and manage vendor and broker relationships and performance with regard to group health insurance, ancillary benefit plans (e.g. Aflac), external compensation market vendors and associations, and 401k stakeholders
  • Manage self-funded group health insurance plan to reduce risk and expense to the agency while collaborating with fiscal department and broker to implement wellness programs as appropriate
  • Support agency, employee and HR department with education on benefit and compensation plans as well as be a point of escalation and liaison with outside agencies
  • Manage Open Enrollment event with plan renewal, coordinating with site meetings and material, and set-up or update HRIS for new benefit plans, including EDI feeds
  • Support compensation strategy and manage HR policies relevant and updated in-line with NVIH vision and practices
  • Support department heads with implementing budget for new positions, requests for periodic compensation reviews and annual agency-wide compensation reviews and pay scales
  • Perform 401k Plan Administration responsibilities including but not limited to participating in quarterly Trustee meetings, liaison with our broker and recordkeeper, update the plan as directed, manage annual 401k audit.
  • Ensure policies, procedures, and practices are compliant with various regulatory rules such as ACA and ERISA
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers and fellow HR team members
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Experience

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required for an employee to successfully perform their duties.

  • Bachelors degree in business management, human resources, healthcare or related field
  • CCP, CBP, CEBS or other Human Resources certification preferred
  • Five (5) years in Human Resources function with experience supporting benefits and compensation activities
  • Plan Administration experience for 401k or other retirement plans
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and ability to speak publicly, such as conducting group trainings.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining positive and effective working relationships with department directors, and others contacted in the course of the work.
  • Critical thinking and solution-based problem-solving skills necessary to support Senior Leadership
  • Emotional Intelligence: Recognizes, understands and manages ones own emotions and the emotions of others to build strong relationships and manage stress.
  • Ability to make accurate entries and mathematical calculations quickly and accurately.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills with acute attention to detail with spatial awareness;
  • Reliable Transportation and ability to adhere to regular attendance.
