Position Summary:
The Part Time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) provides direct psychiatric care and substance use treatment, including Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), to patients. This position supports the integration of behavioral health and primary care in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) setting, with a focus on underserved populations. The PMHNP plays a key role in a multidisciplinary team committed to providing trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and evidence-based care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Conduct psychiatric evaluations, diagnose mental health and substance use disorders, and develop treatment plans.
* Prescribe, manage, and monitor psychiatric medications, including buprenorphine and other MAT medications, in compliance with DEA and state regulations.
* Provide ongoing medication management and counseling for patients in MAT, ensuring appropriate support and education.
* Collaborate with medical providers, licensed therapists, care coordinators, and peer specialists to deliver integrated, team-based care.
* Participate in multidisciplinary case reviews, quality improvement initiatives, and performance tracking activities.
* Maintain timely and accurate documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR); complete all documentation within 72 hours of the patient encounter.
* Ensure compliance with HRSA, UDS, and organizational standards for coding, billing, and documentation.
* Educate patients and families on treatment options, medication adherence, and lifestyle modifications.
* Support the development of safety plans and participate in risk assessments for patients at risk of self-harm or violence.
* Participate in continuing education and maintain current licensure, certifications, and MAT training requirements.
* Provide psychiatric care via telehealth, when applicable, in compliance with telemedicine standards.
* Maintain an active patient panel and meet established productivity expectations.
* Engage in outreach or support services for special populations, including individuals experiencing homelessness, those involved in the justice system, or other underserved groups.
* Travel to multiple sites as needed to meet organizational and patient needs.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Master's or Doctorate degree in Nursing with specialization as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
* Current and unrestricted PMHNP licensure in the State of Georgia.
* A current DEA number from the United States Drug Enforcement Administration
* Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
* Minimum of one year of clinical experience in psychiatric or addiction medicine (preferred).
* Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
