Job Title: Behavioral Health Care Coordinator

Location: Chicago, IL

Contract Duration: 5 –6 months

Description:

This position ensures accurate and timely clinical review of behavioral health cases for medical necessity. Responsibilities include assisting members via phone, reviewing medical records, and interpreting behavioral health diagnoses. The role involves utilizing medical necessity criteria across various levels of care, from outpatient visits to acute inpatient care.

Key Responsibilities:

Review behavioral health cases for medical necessity and appropriateness.

Assist members through telephone consultations and ensure accurate case documentation.

Analyze and interpret medical records, diagnoses, and treatment plans.

Utilize knowledge of medical necessity criteria for behavioral health care across different levels.

Provide clear and effective communication with members, providers, and internal teams.

Required Qualifications:

Active, current RN license or Masters-level Behavioral Health Professional (LCPC, LCSW, LMFT) with an independent practice-level license.

3+ years of clinical experience in a psychiatric or behavioral health setting.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent analytical, decision-making, and documentation skills.

PC and database proficiency.

Ability to travel as required for the role.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in utilization review in behavioral health settings.
