BCANDS Finance Manager

Overview
The BCANDS Finance Manager will be the overall lead as it pertains to the financial operations of the Society. This includes accounts receivable / payable, payroll, remittances, financial reporting and other duties that may be assigned. The Finance Manager reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer
NOTE: The following duties and responsibilities of the BCANDS Finance Manager may be adjusted in order to meet the needs of the Society, clients, communities and partner agencies. The following are primary duties and functions that also may be expanded upon in order to best address the needs of Indigenous individuals and families living a disability and the overall operations of the Society.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
The BCANDS Finance Manager will work as an expert in relation to overall financial aspects of the Society and serve as a resource to the various programs and services of the Society.
As the typical first point of contact with the Society in relation to financial matters, the BCANDS Finance Manager will work directly with a variety of stakeholders including funding agencies, suppliers, vendors, government departments / programs and others. All interactions will be done in a respectful, understanding and confidential manner, ensuring the integrity of the Society and the confidence of our client and stakeholders.
Broad Functions of the BCANDS Finance Manager
- Manage and prioritize incoming supplier/client invoices and invoices them to A/R Customers, meeting month end deadlines.
- Manage and prioritize A/P supplier invoices and data enter accounting software for payment in a timely fashion meeting all deadlines.
- Payroll including deductions and accurate tracking of employee timebanks
- Union deductions
- Bank and credit card reconciliations
- Filing of paid documents and other financial documents, matching up cheque runs, matching up PO’s to invoices
- Financial reporting to funders
- Other duties as required
Experience
Successful candidate will have 3 + years of experience with Sage 50 desktop version
Knowledge and experience with all aspects of bookkeeping including:
Bi-weekly and annual payroll processing
Accounts payable and accounts receivable
Bank and credit card reconciliations
Budgeting and year end procedures
Understanding of Departmental/Fund accounting
Must be highly organized
Experience with human resources/staffing
Good working knowledge and use of excel and word
Experience with non-profits, an asset but not necessary
Must provide Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check
