Job Summary

The Bartender works closely with the Bar Director, fellow Bartenders, and bar support staff, to provide exceptional drink and food service for all our guests. This position has a range of responsibilities including high touch guest service, quality cocktail making, barback training, cocktail batching, serving and coursing, ingredient production, cleaning, and organization. This job description reflects the general level and nature of the job. It is not intended to be all inclusive.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities

  • Extend a genuine welcome and good-bye to all Ettan + Copra + Eylan guests;
  • Work with a team mentality, looking out for the best interest of the whole team
  • Oversee, communicate, and execute all bar duties/responsibilities;
  • Set up and breakdown of bar, 2-3 wells nightly.
  • Follow cocktail batch recipes from Ettan + Copra + Eylan bar bible;
  • Reconcile cash drawer at opening and closing; oversee cash handling
  • Track juice pars and log juice production needs
  • Capable of executing all opening bar prep
  • In depth knowledge of Ettan + Copra + Eylan's beer, wine, cocktails, and spirits
  • In depth knowledge of food menu; able to answer guest questions and describe dishes awareness of dishes with potential allergens
  • Working Toast POS knowledge: starting tabs, closing out and transferring checks; input orders course and modify food appropriately;
  • Process credit card, cash and gift card payments
  • Know all table and seat numbers based on seating floor map
  • Communicate with management about any improving a guest experiences or special praise for their Ettan + Copra + Eylan experience
  • Maintain awareness of the status of the restaurant as a whole during service to optimize collaboration and flow of service
  • Maintain cleanliness and restock liquor storage room weekly
  • Communicate with Bar Director any ingredient needs in a professional, timely manner

Secondary Duties/Responsibilities

  • Help guide and train new staff
  • Proficient knowledge of reservation & seating policy, table & seat numbers
  • Participate in daily lineup discussions
  • Have a keen eye on and take action to ensure the cleanliness and orderliness of the service areas and restaurant in general

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities - Required

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Must be able to lift at least 50lbs without assistance
  • Current Food Handler and Unlawful Harassment training certificates
  • Ability to effectively communicate with staff in both front of house and back of house about service needs and adjustments
  • Ability to maintain a calm, even temperament, and focus under pressure
  • Clear sense of time management skills before, during, and after service
  • Solid foundation of spirit, cocktail, beer & wine knowledge - a willingness to deepen knowledge in each of these categories
  • Approach tasks with a sense of thoughtful urgency
  • Speak with respect and professionalism
  • Be punctual

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities - Preferred

  • Good time management and ability to multitask
  • High level of spirits and cocktail preparation knowledge
  • Experience in a Michelin rated or James Beard nominated restaurant
  • Experience in high volume high performance restaurant environments
  • WSET 1 or 2 certified

  • Stand stationary in the bar throughout the shift for periods of time (up to at least 8 hours per day, 3-4 days per week)
  • Continuous physical activity including walking, standing, twisting, sitting, bending, lifting, reaching, kneeling, stooping, crawling, wiping, climbing, pushing and pulling items weighing 50 pounds for distances of up to 20 ft. up and down stairs;
  • Stand and move throughout the bar and restaurant gracefully
  • Interpret and follow a variety of instructions and procedures furnished in written and oral formats
  • Work under pressure with changing, ambiguous priorities
  • Auditory and visual skills - Specific vision abilities required by this job include

close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus

  • Ability to work additional hours or shifts occasionally at the last minute.
  • Ability to perform moderately strenuous physical work and repetitive hand and arm motions
  • Understand and respond to staff requests in a loud environment;

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

  • Shift times vary based on hours the restaurant is open.
