Backend Developer

Location: London (Hybrid)

Salary: £45,000 – £50,000 per annum

The Opportunity

A growing digital team is seeking a skilled and motivated Backend Developer to contribute to the delivery of high-quality web solutions for a range of clients across sectors including healthcare, housing, legal, and professional services.

This is an ideal role for a developer with solid backend experience who’s looking to expand their skillset across modern JavaScript frameworks and headless CMS platforms, and work on large-scale, content-rich digital builds.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain backend services and systems that power dynamic digital experiences

Build and extend headless CMS integrations (e.g., Contentful, Sitecore, or similar)

Create performant APIs and server-side logic to support frontend applications

Work closely with frontend developers, designers, and product owners in an Agile setting

Contribute to architectural decisions, documentation, and continuous improvement

Ensure performance, scalability, and security standards are upheld

Participate in peer code reviews and development best practices

Required Skills & Experience

2–4 years of experience in backend development using C#, .NET, or Node.js

Working knowledge of React and Next.js (enough to collaborate effectively with frontend teams)

Experience with headless CMS platforms such as Contentful, Sanity, Sitecore, or equivalent

Understanding of RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL

Proficient in Git and CI/CD workflows

Previous experience working in Agile or Scrum environments

Nice to Have:

Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure preferred)

Exposure to JAMstack architecture and modern web development patterns

Experience in a digital agency or client-facing delivery role

Awareness of frontend best practices (accessibility, performance, SEO)
