The Automation/Process Engineer is responsible for developing methods, tools, automated assembly processes, and product variants in fabricated glass systems focusing on priming and post attachment of a variety of bonded components as well as soldering applications. This role will support Carlex facilities throughout the United States. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Develop new material applications and processes. Design methods to ensure product quality. Collaboratively support all Carlex manufacturing facilities Support outside/subcontracted assembly operations. Implement and report on testing results and manufacturing process improvements. Work with suppliers, tooling manufactures, process equipment manufactures and Plant personnel on new technology and process improvements in areas of priming, bonding, soldering and automotive glass assembly processes. Support new equipment and process layouts for new program launches. Conduct training with plant personnel on priming, bonding, soldering and assembly principles and practical applications. Establish the definition of testing requirements, standards and protocols to meet internal and external requirements for priming, bonding and soldering. Identify and implement Poka-yokes for error proofing. Study and rearrange material flow and operations sequence Develop manufacturing methods, labor utilization standards, and cost analysis systems to promote efficient staff and facility utilization. Analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and establish quality and reliability objectives of finished product. Recommend methods for improving utilization of personnel, material and utilities. Define new testing methods or protocols for new products. Interpret a variety of customer specifications. Brainstorm improved products and processes.
