Summary

Job Overview: GOW Group Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Automation Technician to join our team in Grand Falls, NB. This position will primarily focus on designing, installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting automation systems. The successful candidate will possess expertise in industrial and commercial electrical control system and switchgear, automation technology and have strong problem-solving abilities to ensure efficient operations across various systems. You will report directly to the V.P. of Engineering and work closely with other technical and engineering teams. Key Responsibilities: Automation Systems Installation & Maintenance: Engaged in the development and assembly of electrical and/or automation panels, Installing, configuring, and commissioning automation systems, including PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), HMIs (Human-Machine Interfaces), sensors, and motor controls. Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on automation systems to ensure optimal performance. Diagnose and resolve electrical and automation-related issues promptly. Includes troubleshooting and repair of equipment at customer sites. System Programming & Troubleshooting: Program PLCs and HMIs based on system requirements and operational needs. Modify and troubleshoot existing programs to address issues or improve performance. Assist in testing and debugging of control systems. Collaboration & Documentation: Collaborate with engineers, production teams, and other departments to implement automation solutions. Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, wiring diagrams, and maintenance logs. Ensure proper labeling and organization of components for ease of troubleshooting and future upgrades. Coordinate CSA and UL certification of panels. Compliance & Safety: Adhere to safety standards and procedures in the installation, maintenance, and repair of automation systems. Participate in safety audits and maintain compliance with relevant industry regulations. Required Qualifications: College Degree in Automation Technology, Mechatronics, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. Proven experience (3+ years) in automation technology. Strong understanding of PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.), automation controls, and electrical wiring. Experience in interpreting electrical schematics and technical manuals. Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Modbus, etc.) is a plus. Ability to work with hand and power tools, multimeters, and other diagnostic equipment. Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices for electrical work. Preferred Skills: Certification in PLC programming or automation systems. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to work in industrial environments, including exposure to electrical systems and machinery.
