Job Title: Automation Technician

Job Description

This position assists within the maintenance department to handle the day-to-day operations of a manufacturing environment. This role requires strong organizational, analytical, mechanical, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all plant pneumatics, hydraulics, electric systems, including connecting to programmable logic control (PLC) systems for troubleshooting or modifying programs.
  • Maintain plant support equipment such as air compressors, forklifts, boiler, wastewater treatment system, fire systems, HVAC, pumps, and chillers.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical failures in all plant manufacturing equipment, including mixing, filling, packaging equipment, conveyers, and other equipment.
  • Perform minor unscheduled maintenance and repair on trucking equipment such as forklifts or powered industrial vehicles.
  • Accurately document work performed or processes used to repair or conduct preventive maintenance.
  • Create, execute, and properly document work orders within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (ManagerPlus & MP2 preferably).
  • Complete additional scheduling and repair material documentation and reporting as required, and suggest improvements and take on projects to achieve results.
  • Actively participate in machine process and design improvement forums.
  • Participate in health and safety programs including council or committee meetings, OSHA and corporate mandated training, certification, and re-certification.
  • Assist with installation of new equipment, debugging, validations, etc.
  • Install and prove-out improvements to equipment by adding sensors, actuators, cameras, etc.
  • Participate or lead 5S / LEAN initiatives / Projects.
  • Investigate and resolve day-to-day production issues.
  • Perform other duties/projects as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Maintain a clean work environment and pay attention to detail.

Essential Skills

  • 3-5 years of experience in industrial machine maintenance.
  • At least 1 year of experience in PLC troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read and use mechanical and electrical schematics for troubleshooting.
  • Ability to use an electrical Multimeter for troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of and ability to troubleshoot and repair industrial pneumatic, hydraulic, electric, or mechanical system components such as pumps, valves, cylinders, motors, and solenoids.
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting bearings, belts, sprockets, gears, chains, cams, pistons, servo motors.
  • Basic electrical controls (120v, 24v).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Associate degree is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in PLC troubleshooting.
  • Skills in electrical, PLC programming, robotics, programming, HMI, Allen Bradley PLC, controls engineering, and automation.

Work Environment

This role supports a manufacturing environment that is expanding in business and physical size, as the company is moving to a larger facility. The position requires participation in various health and safety programs, machine process and design improvement forums, and 5S / LEAN initiatives.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $90000.00/yr.
