Join Agilent as an Automation Project Engineer and play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and supporting automation systems that drive biopharmaceutical manufacturing excellence. This is a high-impact role suited for a hands-on, technically skilled professional who thrives in fast-paced, GMP-regulated environments. You'll lead projects from concept through execution, delivering cutting-edge automation solutions that improve product quality and manufacturing efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the domain guide for automation and controls systems including Plant Control Systems (PCS/SCADA), Building Automation Systems (BAS), Data Historian/Analytics, and standalone bioprocessing skids.
  • Lead automation engineering efforts on capital projects, from design through commissioning and startup, ensuring systems meet GMP requirements.
  • Lead contractors and consultants during the design, integration, and execution of automation projects.
  • Act as the Automation Project Lead on large-scale greenfield and brownfield plant expansion projects.
  • Develop and maintain detailed design specifications, implement change controls, and ensure data integrity and compliance with 21 CFR Part 11.
  • Support Commissioning, Qualification, and Validation (CQV) activities as the primary automation liaison.
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams including process development, IT, manufacturing, validation, safety, and quality.
  • Identify and recommend innovative automation technologies to improve system capabilities and plant performance.
  • Partner with site and global IT teams to develop and maintain Operational Technology (OT)/IT infrastructure.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree experience in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Biochemical, or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 8+ years of confirmed experience in the pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, or fine chemicals industry, with at least 6 years passionate about automation technologies.
  • Shown experience handling small to large projects across all lifecycle phases: design, procurement, installation, commissioning, and qualification.
  • Hands-on experience with SCADA, PLC, BAS systems, and validation documentation (IQ/OQ/PQ).
  • Strong project management, engineering, and interpersonal skills.
  • Dedicated problem solver with a collaborative mentality and ability to lead multi-functional initiatives in a GMP-regulated setting.

The full-time equivalent pay range for this position is $119,200.00 - $186,250.00/yr plus eligibility for bonus, stock and benefits. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
