AUTOMATION GROUP MANAGER

Established in 2012, Signature Automation has experienced continuous growth in our relatively short history. We now have offices in Dallas, San Antonio, and Houston, Texas, and our service capabilities include all aspects of electrical, instrumentation, and controls engineering design; industrial control system programming; and IT infrastructure design, networking, and consulting services. Our work primarily serves municipal water/wastewater utilities, state and local jails, detention/corrections facilities, as well as private clients.

Overview

The Automation Group Manager will lead the programming, configuration, testing, and commissioning of HMI/PLC based industrial control systems for municipal and industrial water/wastewater clients throughout the region. The ideal candidate should have extensive project management, business development, and leadership capabilities. The role will consist of overseeing and driving the efficiency of the firm’s automation group. The individual will work closely with executive leadership and other group managers to achieve a high level of client satisfaction executed by the group. Furthermore, as group manager the individual will be tasked with training and mentoring subordinates of various levels and experience to ultimately enhance their career development.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Lead team of engineers.
  • Coach and mentor staff.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the satisfactory execution for all SCADA programming projects from inception to completion.
  • Ensure the firm’s quality practices are met on all SCADA programming projects.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, fostering strong relationships and addressing project needs.
  • Oversee project budgets, schedules, staff resources, and overall financial performance of the group.
  • Manage multiple assignments simultaneously while maintaining high-quality outcomes.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to staff, promoting professional growth.
  • Actively engage in industry events and demonstrate a willingness to share expertise through conference presentations as a subject matter expert.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Minimum of 7 years of programming and leadership experience.
  • At least 3 years of project management experience, specifically with SCADA programming projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20%.
  • Ability to oversee personnel in multiple locations.

EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering with a minimum of 7 years of automation and controls programming experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required or ability to obtain one within 12 months; Certified Automation Professional (CAP) certification may be accepted in lieu of a PE.
