Our client Black Donuts is looking for an Automation Engineer to join their team. The position is full-time and permanent. The position is based in Black Donuts’ headquarters located in Pirkkala, Finland. They work in flexible hybrid model so you may live elsewhere in Finland but are expected to visit the office regularly and when needed. The position requires regular travel abroad (50-100 days a year). You will report to Director, Automation & Solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create and maintain detailed specifications and functional descriptions for customers.
• Review and provide feedback on technical documentation from various project sources.
• Tackle and resolve technical challenges.
• Act as the primary technical contact for customers and technology suppliers.
• Contribute to the development of Black Donuts’ own products and software.
• Provide a technical perspective on technology requirements for new tire plant designs.
• Collaborate with internal specialists, suppliers, partners, and customers across different technical fields.

Qualifications and Desired Background:

• A technical degree (e.g., bachelor’s or master’s in automation, mechanical engineering or a related field) degree is preferred but also a vocational degree with relevant work experience is considered
• Capability to prioritize your work and work as part of a team
• Preferably a few years of experience in machine controls programming
• Proficiency in PLC-controlled systems, main brands Siemens and Rockwell
• Understanding of machine safety systems
• Knowledge of electrical engineering
• Fluent English is a must (written and verbal, technical vocabulary)
• Familiarity with basic computer tools, such as O365, primarily for documentation
• Willingness to travel
• Flexibility to adapt to changing project needs.

Knowledge of these is an advantage:

• Familiarity with different energy systems, such as compressed air, steam, water treatment, hot/cold water and HVAC (utilities)
• Experience with machine interfacing technologies like OPC UA, SQL, XML, API’s and MQTT
• Knowledge of UI programming and/or UX design
• Knowledge of tire industry
• Knowledge of Siemens Tecnomatix plant simulation.
