The Position


We are seeking an experienced HR professional with technical expertise to join our small team. As part of the Reef Authority’s broader People Services team, you will work across the Reef Authority to influence the way our people systems integrate and talk to each other. The role is responsible for managing the systems administration function for the Human Resources Information System (Aurion), including ensuring integration with other Reef Authority systems, and maintaining functionality and useability for business needs. The role is also responsible for the oversight and management of the day-to-day functions of the Aurion system, supporting business areas with queries, troubleshooting system issues, and escalating issues to the vendor, as necessary.


The position will be responsible for the delivery of Aurion and the reporting and analytics to inform strategic decisions.


This role requires a highly customer focused individual, able to work collaboratively with others and build and maintain relationships across a broad range of roles including the broader People Services team and a diverse network of customers and stakeholder internally and externally. You will help to identify continuous improvement initiatives and utilise agile ways of working to support business deliverables.


The position will work with the payroll team to set and ensure effective and efficient service delivery outcomes as well as develop a schedule of system enhancements. The role will be required to troubleshoot complex system problems and oversee system upgrades.


This role may be required to provide temporary operational coverage (for leave or other reasons) to other key functions within People Services.


The position contributes to the continuous improvement of processes to ensure a streamlined and customer focused service.


Working under limited direction you will contribute to project and organisational success by working closely with business, technical, and project teams to gather, validate, and document requirements.


The current position is ongoing however through this process may create a merit pool to fill similar ongoing and non-ongoing positions that become available within the next 18 months.


Key Responsibilities


  1. Conducting comprehensive analyses of workforce data to identify trends, patterns and insights relevant to organisational objectives.
  2. Developing and maintaining robust reporting mechanisms to communicate findings to stakeholders at various levels of the organisation and government.
  3. Collaborating with the People Services teams to identify data needs, streamline data collection processes, and ensure data accuracy, timeliness and integrity within the HRMIS (Aurion) and/or other HR systems.
  4. Managing and documenting system issues, communicating both with internal stakeholders and the vendor as issues progress and ensure these are followed through to a full and complete resolution.
  5. Ensuring full documentation and standard operating procedures exist to support Aurion and all enhancements. This includes the preparation and review of system administration manuals, user guides, procedures and documentation sufficient for audit purposes. Maintaining high levels of system security through regular reviews of processes.
  6. Making recommendations to business areas based on expertise, system functionality, and upcoming system features and coordinate application updates, changes and enhancements.
  7. In collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, developing strategies, forward workplans, and a roadmap of system enhancements and functionality.
  8. Analyse, interpret and apply complex legislation to support system configuration in a proactive manner.
  9. Collaborating with Aurion consultants to enhance the HRMIS (including quality assurance testing of updates, system enhancements, new modules and IT integration in consultation with relevant stakeholders) and identifying opportunities to improve service delivery, enhance stakeholder relationships, and optimise user experience within HRMIS systems.
  10. Supervising, mentoring and building capability for a small team in a fast-paced, high-energy, high-demand area of People Services.
