Overview

This is a hybrid role (if located in Raleigh, NC or Charlotte, NC) with the expectation that time working will regularly take place inside and outside of a company office. Two days a week in office. Open to remote in several markets for highly qualified candidate.

This Audit Project Manager position is part of the Loan Operations team responsible for leading audit projects on the Bank's internal operations. Determines appropriate project scope by assessing significant risks and controls. Documents and evaluates internal controls, ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, and identifies business risks. Reviews financial transactions or reports for accuracy. Develops advanced procedures that improve process efficiency and mitigate risk. Supervises audit activities, providing expertise through knowledge in area of work, and supports external audit efforts as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Project Management - Assigns, supervises, and reviews audit projects. Provides feedback, direction, and professional development to assisting auditors. Monitor and adhere to engagement time budgets. Train, review and evaluate staff, and as needed, provide honest and timely feedback. Assist in managing client relationships to deliver quality services and products.
  • Communication - Creates reports and other documentation to communicate findings. Maintains strong written and verbal skills. Communicates effectively with both internal and external parties.
  • Audit - Develops and executes audit procedures, performs complex analysis, uses appropriate general and audit-specific technology, and provides sufficient evidence to conclude on the adequacy and effectiveness of the internal control system. Design testing strategy and sample approach. Ensures compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Documentation - Compiles all relevant business, process, and system information prior to auditing. Updates process flows, risks, and controls, and accounts for the impact of technology on the control environment.
  • Continuous monitoring - Participate in continuing monitoring of assigned auditable entities to monitor risk and control environment. Perform issue monitoring and issue validation.
  • Participate in the annual risk assessment process and update assigned risk assessments as a result of performing continuous monitoring, issue validation and audit engagements. Assess the rating, and provide detailed rationale, of the inherent, control environment and residual risk ratings.
  • Training & Development - Maintain and expand knowledge of area of expertise. Comply with continuing education requirements.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and 4 years of experience in Public accounting or Bank internal auditing.

Required designation as a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), or Certified Bank Auditor (CBA), or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), or Certified Public Accountant (CPA). OR High School Diploma or GED and 8 years of experience in Public accounting or Bank internal auditing.

License Or Certification Type

Required Skills

  • Knowledge of internal and external laws, policies, and procedures regulating Internal Audit actions
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), SEC Rules, and SOX Act

Preferred Skills

  • Preferred experience in loan operations or auditing loan operations.
  • Audit experience in financial services.
  • Knowledge of internal and external laws, policies, and procedures regulating Internal Audit actions.
