What is an AV Systems Engineer
The Audio-Visual Systems Engineer is responsible for producing clear and technically accurate AutoCAD shop drawings for audiovisual systems. This position will also orchestrate and prioritize timely deployments of large A/V systems and equipment refresh projects in a variety of settings, (healthcare, corporate offices, hospitality, Educational and sports & entrainment venues).
A Glimpse of What You’ll Do
- Work with CAD systems to analyze and design systems such as, Large Scale Sound, Audio Visual, IPTV Systems, Production intercom, A/V Cabling, Digital Signage, Videowall System, Production Video
- Assist in bid specification work by extracting information from plans and specifications for pricing and quoting purposes. Originate RFI’s as needed
- Complete project deliverables per scope and schedule commitments including shop drawings and job specific training manuals
- Provide the following drawing types as specifically related to audiovisual:
Floor Plans
Ceiling Plans
Elevations (room, rack, and other required layouts)
Details (AV Panels, A/V Racks, etc.)
Single Line (signal flow) diagrams
Device Mounting Details
AV Device Connection Details (terminations, pin-outs, connector types etc.)
Electrical and Structural requirements for A/V Devices
- Coordinate with other trades for accurate A/V integration into IT, electrical, fire, security, structural and architectural design teams as required
- Conduct pre-install walkthroughs to identify potential issues if/where required
- Facilitate improvements on installation processes
- Train technical team on job requirements where needed
- Troubleshoot A/V systems if/as required
- Assist in final commissioning and testing of A/V systems if/where required
- Train clients on completed A/V system functions and limitations
- Ensure all work exceeds the contract specifications and specific client needs
- Conduct research, stay up to date and collaborates with manufacturers, vendors and colleagues in the design, planning and implementation of A/V systems
What You Bring

- Five or more years’ experience in Audio Visual Engineering
- CTS-D certification preferred
- Able to provide EASE analysis
- Fluent in AutoCAD, Excel, Word required
- Experienced in working with major AV Suppliers/Manufacturer Equipment/Materials
- Basic knowledge of Q-Sys, digital consoles, Extron, BSS, Crestron programming
- Good verbal and written presentation skills
