We’re seeking an experienced attorney to join a dynamic legal team supporting a large, innovative public research university. This role focuses on complex transactional matters, including real estate, commercial contracts, business structures, procurement, intellectual property, data privacy, and regulatory compliance.

Location: Tempe, Arizona, United States (Hybrid)

Key Responsibilities:

• Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of contracts and legal documents.
• Provide legal counsel to university departments on federal/state laws, regulations, and policies.
• Advise on compliance, regulatory matters, and public records management.
• Represent the university in negotiations, disputes, and administrative proceedings.
• Collaborate with external counsel on specialized legal issues.
• Develop and present legal training to internal stakeholders.

Qualifications:

• JD from an accredited law school; must be eligible for Arizona bar admission or in-house counsel registration within 12 months of hire.
• At least 6 years of legal experience, with a strong background in transactional and/or real estate law.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex, high-volume workloads.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and legal research skills.
• Knowledge of public-private partnerships, acquisitions, leasing, and development is preferred.
• Experience advising large public or educational institutions is a plus.

Work Environment:

Primarily office-based with some in-state and occasional out-of-state travel.
