The Athena Specialist will report to the Clinical Operations team and serve as a key resource for maintaining expertise in Athena (EMR) and its associated applications and vendor interfaces. This role will collaborate closely with our Practices to support the development and implementation of effective workflows, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Job Responsibilities:
* Implementation and Configuration:
* Oversee the setup, configuration, and deployment of the Athena Health EMR system.
* Customize the EMR system to align with clinical workflows and regulatory requirements.
* System Maintenance and Optimization:
* Identify and resolve technical issues and system errors including but not limited to interface error queues.
* User Training and Support:
* Create and maintain user documentation and training materials. Conduct training programs for healthcare providers and staff on the use of the EMR system.
* Provide ongoing technical support and troubleshooting assistance to end-users.
* Data Management:
* Ensure the accuracy and integrity of patient data within the EMR system.
* Implement data security measures to protect patient information.
* Generate reports and analyze data to support clinical decision-making and operational efficiency.
* Compliance and Quality Assurance:
* Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards, including HIPAA.
* Participate in quality assurance activities and audits related to the EMR system.
* Collaboration and Communication:
* Work closely with the clinical quality team, IT department, practice users and other stakeholders to understand and meet their EMR needs.
* Communicate effectively with vendors and external partners regarding system updates and issues.
Qualifications:
* High school Diploma or equivalent required, associate's degree preferred.
* Experience working with Athena as an end user and as a trainer required.
* Experience with billing and RCM processes required.
* Must understand how EMR configuration and setup impacts upstream components (such as front desk registration, insurance collections, POS billing as well as downstream components of revenue and reimbursements)
* Knowledge of Interfaces, reports and data view/snowflake preferred.
