Job Summary

We’re seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Associate Operational Manager to oversee the heartbeat of our artisanal skincare production facility in Forest, VA. In this critical role, you’ll support the General Manager by managing daily operations, optimizing production processes, and leading our team to deliver high-quality, handmade skincare products that delight our customers. With $15 million in projected annual revenue, our small but ambitious facility thrives on efficiency, innovation, and a commitment to excellence. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with a passion for operational success, a keen eye for improvement, and the ability to inspire a tight-knit team in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily production operations, ensuring timely and efficient manufacturing of our small-batch skincare products while meeting quality and safety standards
  • Manage and motivate a team of production staff, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Monitor and maintain production schedules, adjusting workflows to meet demand and minimize downtime
  • Implement and refine operational processes to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and control costs without compromising product quality
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations (e.g., FDA, OSHA, GMP) and company safety protocols, conducting regular audits and training as needed
  • Collaborate with the General Manager to develop and execute operational strategies aligned with company growth goals
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as production output, cost per unit, and defect rates, providing regular reports and actionable insights
  • Coordinate with supply chain and procurement teams to ensure raw material availability and manage inventory levels
  • Support new product launches by overseeing production trials, equipment setup, and staff training
  • Solicit feedback from staff and customers to identify opportunities for process or product enhancements
  • Step in to troubleshoot operational challenges, from equipment malfunctions to staffing issues, with a solutions-oriented mindset
  • Assist in budgeting and cost management, contributing to the facility’s financial health

Qualifications

  • Proven ability to manage production operations with a focus on efficiency and quality
  • Strong leadership skills with experience supervising teams and driving performance in a manufacturing setting
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining high standards in a regulated industry
  • Effective communicator, capable of collaborating across departments and presenting data clearly
  • Comfortable using operational software (e.g., ERP systems, production tracking tools) and analyzing performance metrics
  • A proactive approach to identifying and implementing improvements in workflows or processes
  • Ability to thrive in a small, dynamic team environment with a hands-on work ethic
