Who We Are

With almost 70 years of experience as an independent research, development, and evaluation laboratory for fuels and lubricants, we are well qualified to tackle challenges affecting marine vessels and locomotives, trucks and automobiles, and even hand-held power tools.

Objectives Of This Role

  • Work in small teams under the direction of senior staff; will develop and maintain Windows and Web based software applications for the Fuels and Lubricants Research Division.
  • Establish working relationships with internal clients consistent with project and promotional opportunities; prepares, presents, and follows up on research proposals.
  • Identify ideas for new projects, participate in their promotion, and contributes to improving project and promotional work processes; develop training materials and performs training on new software programs.
  • Develop expertise in working in, and organizing, project teams; Develop proficiency in writing and verbal presentation skills and mastery of computer software common to specialization.
  • Deal regularly with other researchers in the department and develop contacts with other researchers throughout the Institute.
  • Comply with all safety regulations and standards; perform other duties as assigned necessary for the success of specific projects and the division’s goals.

Daily And Monthly Responsibilities

  • Perform all phases of software development, including requirements generation, design, implementation, testing, integration, installation and maintenance, and documentation.
  • Must work well in a team or independently. Must have excellent software testing skills. Working knowledge of integrated development environments is required.
  • Develop proficiency in writing and verbal presentation skills and mastery of computer software common to specialization.
  • Microsoft Visual Studio, C#, C++, SQL Server, Blazor and Oracle is preferred.

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelors degree in Computer Science.
  • 0-5 years: Software development experience. Must have experience using relational databases and writing SQL.
  • 0-2 years: Microsoft Visual Studio, C#, C++, SQL Server, Blazor and Oracle is preferred.
  • A valid/clear driver's license is required.

Special Requirements

Must be a U.S. person (i.e., U.S. citizen, non-U.S. citizen national, lawful permanent resident, asylee, or refugee) due to ITAR work in section.
