The Associate Director of Donor Relations supports the development, management, and implementation of donor communications related to philanthropic revenue to help deepen the relationship between the donor and Beth Israel Lahey Health and its member institutions. The Associate Director’s primary responsibility will be to assist with managing the extensive system that produces these foundational communications.

The Associate Director will maintain close and collaborative working relationships with all philanthropy leadership and frontline fundraisers across the BILH system and colleagues engaged in shared service roles, including Operations and External Relations teams, who are integral to the Donor Relations team’s work.

The Associate Director of Donor Relations will:

  • enhance and administer the acknowledgment and tribute process for all members of the BILH system.
  • maintain a working knowledge of funding priorities for all BILH affiliates to facilitate accurate and personalized donor communications.
  • partner with the Operations team to help ensure data integrity, which is fundamental to donor relations’ processes.
  • execute monthly reporting to highlight team metrics.

Job Description:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:

  • Oversee a strategic donor-centric, comprehensive recognition program; catalog and create appropriate naming opportunities and conventions to support comprehensive fundraising campaigns and donor recognition levels.
  • Manages the design, fabrication, and installation of donor signage, including the creation and tracking of signage authorization forms, vendor mockups, and proofs. Oversees the inventory of plaques, named spaces and programs, and available naming opportunities within Raiser’s Edge to maintain an accurate and historic archive of donor recognition.
  • Manages special stewardship and recognition touches, including birthday and holiday outreach as well as creative and meaningful gifts for donors. Oversees the coordination of special engagement opportunities, including the management of small donor recognition events.
  • Oversees a comprehensive acknowledgment system to accurately prepare, send, and track leadership-level acknowledgment letters across the BILH system.
  • Manages the tribute notification program in partnership with gift administration to notify all tribute recipients of gifts made.
  • Maintains Raiser’s Edge data that informs and impacts all donor relations processes, including acknowledgments, tributes, and endowment reports. Manages program metrics to report and track the team’s activity and results.
  • Supports the creation and implementation of a comprehensive, systematic, and integrated endowment program to steward endowment donors across the BILH system through scalable reporting.
  • Supports general stewardship and recognition activity for major and principal gifts, including donor recognition plans, press releases, publications, events, gifts, naming implementation, and correspondence on behalf of BILH leadership, including customized letters.
  • Monitor reports to ensure data accuracy and transparency for all donor relations activity.
  • Stay current on best practices and trends in donor relations and philanthropy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

Licensure, Certification & Registration: N/A

Experience:

  • 3-5 years related work experience required. Project management experience is required.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Must demonstrate teamwork, resourcefulness, results orientation, optimism, and trust.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and demonstrated excellence in problem solving, superior attention to detail, ability to coordinate multiple projects across a broad group of staff.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications (especially Powerpoint, Word and Excel).

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

  • Ability to work in fast-past paced institution within the dynamic health care environment.

Dept/Unit Specific Skills:

  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as required.
