What You’ll Be Doing...

This is a leadership role that will require deep technical expertise in AI Engineering and will focus on establishing a strong AI Engineering, Model Ops, LLM Ops team that enables Predictive and Generative AI solutions at scale.

Deliver AI at Scale

• Leading the AI engineering team, overseeing the development, deployment, and maintenance of AI and machine learning models at scale along with delivering core AI services across Predictive & Generative AI.
• Owner of Non-Functional KPIs across Production deployments of Predictive and Generative AI solutions.
• Owning and managing KPIs to measure the effectiveness, efficiency, and impact of AI solutions, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
• Ensuring best practices in AI development, including model validation, testing, and deployment, while adhering to regulatory and ethical standards.
• Managing project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure the successful delivery of AI initiatives.
  
  

Build and Manage the Team

• Being a champion for global operating model and build the foundation through transparency.
• Building a high performing team of AI Engineers that is highly engaged, operates with high degree to autonomy, accountability and a sense to urgency in delivering on business outcomes.
• Building a diverse team with an inclusive culture.
• Attracting and retaining top talent with deep technical expertise to Verizon.
• Enabling career development via access to training resources, on the job coaching and mentoring.
• Helping create an environment where our scientists are engaged in pioneering work that can be shared with the world in a number of ways like open source, publications, etc.
  
  

Technical Thought Leadership

• Operating as an expert and thought leader in Model Ops/LLM Ops both within Verizon and externally within industry.
• Serving as trusted advisor to all stakeholders at Verizon.
• Coaching and mentoring our high potential talent.
• Enabling Operational Rigor of Models and AI Apps.
• Setup a fully functional Model Ops,LLM Ops and App Ops practice for End to End transition of AI solutions from incubations to mission critical system integration.
• Staying informed on the latest advancements in AI and technology space, finding ways to deliver value in production.
• Helping create an environment where our scientists are engaged in pioneering work that can be shared with the world in a number of ways like open source, publications, etc.
• Inspiring our team to create AI applications designed with bias considerations and that promotes ethical AI both within Verizon and externally with Verizon’s partners.
• Establishing best practices and governance routines to ensure adherence to model management policies, peer reviews, and compliance to our policy standards for privacy, ethics, and bias.
  
  

What We’re Looking For...

This leader and the team will own, drive and partner on use cases driven by cognitive solutions. At Verizon, we are on a multi-year journey to industrialize our data science and AI capabilities.

You are a AI/ML Engineering leader with hands on architecture and coding skills, eager to work in a collaborative environment with global teams to drive AI/ML application in business problems, develop end to end AI driven Cognitive solutions and communicate insights and findings to leadership.

You thrive in a dynamic environment and are able to interact with various stakeholders and global cross functional teams to implement AI driven business solutions. You are excited about driving high value outcomes through AI and enjoy mentoring and leading data scientists to deliver large scale AI solutions.

You’ll Need To Have

• Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience
• Six or more years of relevant work experience
• Five or more years of direct experience with leading AI Engineering teams, two or more years in a manager capacity managing engineering talent
• Experience in scaling Real Time models and establishing a high available architecture
• Expert level understanding in tools in the model lifecycle
• Experience in Talent development for AI engineering, Model Ops talent across all the roles
• Experience with both batch and streaming models in production
  
  

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

• Strong experience in managing product teams.
• Strong experience in managing model deployment teams.
• Knowledge on GPU/CPU architecture and distributed computing and general infra needs to scale
• Predictive & Generative AI models.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills.
