Essential Duties
1. Directs, monitors, and assesses needs and directs the application of resources of an administrative University office dealing with one or more major functional areas. 2. Directs and implements solutions to problems that are routine to complex in nature and that affect multiple functional areas of responsibility. 3. Plans and/or participates in planning University activities on a long-term basis to comply with University goals and objectives. 4. Establishes and implements consistent university-wide policies in multiple functional areas of responsibility. 5. Ensures that University office policies and procedures are in compliance with federal, state, and local laws and ordinances. 6. Develops and monitors goals and objectives for managerial and professional staff in compliance with University strategies. 7. Directs a staff of exempt and non-exempt employees. 8. May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in related field and six years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.

Position Focus:
The Associate Director for the BBS/MCGD Track provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for key academic functions, policies, and student services that support the success of the Biological and Biomedical Sciences and the Molecular Cell Biology, Genetics and Development track. This position plays a vital role in advancing the university's academic mission through the development and execution of efficient systems, inclusive practices, and exceptional student services.
Reporting directly to the Lead Administrator and dually to the faculty co-directors of the track, the Associate Director is responsible for managing the full academic lifecycle of BBS/MCGD students-from admissions and recruitment to graduation. This includes oversight of orientation, registration, academic records, scheduling of rotation talks, and ongoing compliance with university policies and regulations. The Associate Director provides strategic direction for student services and academic operations within the BBS/MCGD Track. They oversee the student admissions and recruitment process in close collaboration with faculty co-directors and department registrars.
This role includes maintaining academic records with a focus on confidentiality, data security, and policy compliance, as well as managing enrollment procedures and supporting course and rotation scheduling. In addition, the Associate Director coordinates and delivers academic programs and student development initiatives such as the Research Skill/Ethics course. They support faculty and academic staff through high-quality service, training, and tools, while also supervising and training staff with an emphasis on inclusive practices and building a culture of belonging.
The Associate Director maintains a strong online and social media presence to enhance student outreach and engagement, oversees budget planning and financial operations related to student services, and collaborates with departmental registrars, university offices, and faculty across disciplines to promote student success. They also carry out other responsibilities as assigned by the faculty co-directors.
