Posting Summary Job Title Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Programs Division Divison of Academic Affairs Department School of Computer, Mathematical & Natural Sciences Work Status Full Time Position Category Staff FLSA Pay Range Salary Range $150,000 - $200,000 / year Fund Source State Support Job Summary The School of Computer, Mathematical, and Natural Sciences (SCMNS) at Morgan State University invites qualified scholars to apply for the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Programs position to start July 1, 2025. The applicant should have credentials equivalent to the rank of full professor in one of the school's five academic departments: Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Physics & Engineering Physics. The Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Programs is expected to foster the development and implementation of cost-effective strategies to enhance the research profile and provide oversight for the cost-effective development of graduate programs in SCMNS. The Associate Dean is also expected to actively pursue her/his research and scholarship by maintaining a funded research laboratory and training graduate and undergraduate students. The ideal candidate will be an accomplished researcher with an outstanding scholarly publication record, a demonstrated and successful history of external funding, and experience supervising funded programs as a director or in other research administrative positions. The candidate should be an outstanding teacher and scholar with the academic qualifications necessary to be appointed as a full professor. Job Duties Duties & Responsibilities: * Assist in developing and implementing research strategies to enhance the school's research profile. * Support faculty in securing external funding and grants. * Foster interdisciplinary research collaborations within and outside SCMNS. * Mentor faculty in research, grant writing, and professional development. * Facilitate funding opportunities for graduate students. * Address faculty and student concerns related to research and graduate education. * Conduct innovative research in his/her area of scientific expertise. * Oversee graduate program development, accreditation, and assessment. * Support recruitment, retention, and success of graduate students. * Work with faculty to enhance graduate curricula and professional development opportunities. * Collaborate with department chairs, program directors, and faculty to align research and graduate education goals with the school's strategic plan. * Participate in university-wide research and graduate education committees. Requested Minimum Qualifications Educational: * The successful candidate must possess an accredited university's Doctorate in a relevant science discipline. Other Preferences for Consideration The candidate must have demonstrated potential to develop a dynamic, nationally-recognized, and externally-funded research program that involves publishing in highly regarded peer-reviewed scientific journals. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Experience and commitment to advancing research and graduate education are essential.
