Assistant/Associate Professor – Architecture/Engineering Graduate with specialization in Building Materiality, Structures, and Construction.

The Jindal School of Art and Architecture (JSAA) at the O.P. Jindal Global University, invites applications for faculty at the rank of Associate/Assistant Professor (full time/contract) – Architect/Engineer with specialization in Building Materiality, Structures, and Construction.

We seek applicants who have completed their undergraduate studies in engineering/architecture from a AICTE and/or UGC recognized institution, and have significant work experience covering the larger field of Building Materiality, Structures, and Construction. Prospective candidates should be able to demonstrate sufficient experience in on-site execution and issues related to design coordination and on-site construction. Experience of working with projects of multiple scales and sectors will be valued.

Candidates would be expected to teach undergraduate studios and seminars, while also demonstrating a keen interest in developing masters coursework and contributing towards evolving the curriculum. Given the inter-disciplinary nature of pedagogical practices at the JSAA candidates will be expected to teach students from across various design majors, and thus, develop coursework in a manner that highlights both the collaborative and inter-disciplinary nature of any design practice. Further, candidates will be expected actively pursue research, critical practices and undertake institutional development.

Mandatory Qualifications (Assistant Professor)

  • First Class Bachelors Degree in Architecture/Engineering recognized by the Council of Architecture/AICTE/UGC, and
  • Master’s degree in Architecture or Design or Engineering or related fields, and
  • A minimum of 5 years postgraduate experience of working in the larger field of Building Materiality, Structures, and Construction.

Mandatory Qualifications (Associate Professor)

  • First Class Bachelors Degree in Architecture/Engineering recognized by the Council of Architecture/AICTE/UGC, and
  • Master’s degree in Architecture or Design or Engineering or related fields, and
  • A minimum of 8 years postgraduate experience of working in the larger field of Building Materiality, Structures, and Construction and/or related tasks.

Desired Qualifications (Assistant Professor)

  • 5 years of postgraduate experience of working in the larger field of Building Materiality, Structures, and Construction and/or related tasks.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, IS codes, and industry standards
  • Relevant college-level teaching and administrative experience, and the ability to mentor and advise students on their academic and professional paths.
  • A flexible, integrative, collaborative, and inter-disciplinary approach to design education.

Desired Qualifications (Associate Professor)

  • PhD, and/or
  • 10 years of postgraduate experience of working Building Materiality, Structures, and Construction and/or related tasks.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, IS codes, and industry standards.
  • Relevant college-level teaching and administrative experience, and the ability to mentor and advise students on their academic and professional paths.
  • A flexible, integrative, collaborative, and inter-disciplinary approach to design education.
