Job Purpose
To Assist IBG COO Head in implementing the DBS Group Operational Management Policy and processes within IBG with an aim of ensuring a sound Risk and Control environment
Key Accountabilities
- Operational Risk Management
- Risk & Control Self Assessment (RCSA)
- Improve processes wherever required
- Timely reporting/escalating of risk events/significant incidents
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Risk Identification & Assessment
- Identify operational risks within the business unit.
- Regularly assess processes to detect weaknesses or potential risk areas.
- Maintain a risk register documenting identified risks and associated controls.
Risk Monitoring & Reporting
- Monitor key risk indicators (KRIs) and operational losses.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of risk events and near misses.
- Prepare periodic risk reports for management and risk committees.
- Implementation of Risk Frameworks
- Ensure adherence to the organization’s risk management framework and policies.
- Support rollout of risk tools, methodologies, and frameworks at the unit level.
- Work with the second line and Group risk team to align local practices with corporate standards.
Control Testing & Validation
- Conduct control testing to ensure effectiveness of risk mitigation measures.
- Assist in RCSA (Risk & Control Self-Assessment) exercises.
- Follow up on action plans for control weaknesses.
Incident Management
- Coordinate the investigation and documentation of operational risk incidents.
- Identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Track and ensure implementation of remediation plans.
Training & Awareness
- Promote a risk-aware culture within the unit.
- Conduct or coordinate risk-related training for staff.
- Act as a point of contact for risk-related queries and guidance.
Liaison Role
- Act as a bridge between the business unit and the second line risk function.
- Coordinate with internal audit, compliance, and external regulators when necessary.
Business Continuity & Crisis Management
- Support development and testing of Business Continuity Plans (BCP).
- Participate in crisis management initiatives or drills.
- Analyze and report IBG unit’s operational Risk profile to IBG Management, with proposed action plans to address the issues
Required Experience
- Operational Risk Management / Audit for Corporate Banking unit
- Sufficient knowledge and experience of the Unit’s business operations and processes
- Understanding of regulations related to AML/KYC/CFT locally as well as for the group
- Ability to provide balanced perspective between business expediency and risk & control
- Ability to communicate effectively
Education / Preferred Qualifications
- CA / MBA with 8-10 years of experience
