Purposeful work with genuinely good people. That’s refreshing.

We have an opportunity for an Assistant Project Development Manager to help convert renewable-energy opportunities into investable projects. Working in Energy Storage & Distributed Energy, you’ll support Project Development Managers by co-ordinating engineering, land, planning, commercial, stakeholder, regulatory and legal workstreams for battery and transmission-connection developments. You’ll prepare schedules, budgets and risk registers, track costs, draft Board papers and procurement packages, manage contracts and invoices, and keep multidisciplinary teams aligned—so projects reach financial close smoothly and on time. Your detail-driven reports and stakeholder savvy will directly accelerate AusNet’s pipeline of large-scale batteries and connection assets, enabling Victoria’s transition away from coal.

With a 3/2 hybrid split, this role is based at Freshwater Place in the Distributed Energy Storage Team.

This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:

  • Build and maintain full project schedules, budgets and risk registers
  • Coordinate inputs from engineering, planning, commercial and legal teams
  • Track project costs, issue purchase orders and manage contractor invoices
  • Prepare project execution plans, progress & financial reports and Board papers
  • Support commercial negotiations with OEMs, contractors and market operators
  • Manage stakeholder relationships and ensure project documentation accuracy
  • Assist with site assessments, capex / opex build-ups and long-lead procurement

You don’t need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:

  • Degree in Project Management, Engineering or related discipline
  • Experience in infrastructure or renewables project development
  • Strong MS Excel skills; MS Project (or similar) scheduling proficiency
  • Commercial and financial acumen; exposure to contract negotiation
  • Proven ability to influence virtual teams and meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent written & verbal communication and stakeholder-management skills
