TITLE: Assistant Network Administrator and Data Analyst
Job Summary
Under the direction of the CIO, a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Network Administrator with a focus on Cybersecurity who will assist in maintaining the integrity and performance of our network systems while supporting cybersecurity initiatives and data analysis.
Qualifications
- Four-year degree in computer sciences or related fields (or equivalent work experience or such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable).
- Knowledge and understanding of the following technical systems: Server Operating Systems: Windows Server, 2019, 2022, 2025; Linux; Client Operating Systems: Windows 10 and above, macOS, ChromeOS
- Network Hardware including: routers, switches, wireless access points, and firewalls
- Server/Network Services: Azure, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, VLANs and associated protocols
- Familiarity with: Microsoft Entra ID, Office 365, Web filtering, Google G-Suite and other systems maintained by the IT Department.
- Experience with SIEM tools and security analytics
- Virtualization technologies including but not limited to Microsoft Hyper-V with Failover Clustering and VMWare ESXi
- Programming or coding experience and data analytics
- Excellent written and verbal skills and Good organizational and project management skills
- Critical thinking skills and ability to evaluate and prioritize critical systems and work flow processes.
- Ability to work well within a team environment as well as working independently to support staff at East Hartford Public Schools.
REPORTS TO: Chief Information Officer or designee
Key Responsibilities
Under the direction of the CIO, the Assistant Network Administrator and Data Analyst supports network security and operations. As part of the Network Administration Team tasks include:
- assists with managing the telecommunications systems including voice, data and video communication.
- assists with the planning, design, installation, and maintenance of network systems, and management of LAN and WAN performance as well as LAN and WAN security.
- Installs, maintains, monitors and troubleshoots all operations of the network infrastructure.
- implements policies and standards that will ensure the reliability and security of the network as well as document the current network.
- Proactively diagnoses and repairs problems as they arise.
- Attends meetings and provides feedback, support and coordination for projects involving IT related services.
Performance Responsibilities
- Primary collaborator with SOCaaS vendor
- Manages access and roles for the infrastructure, all software, and vendor access
- Provides leadership and assists with disaster recovery & critical incident responses.
- Proactively provides data analysis on key initiatives and other requested information.
- Assists with managing the telecommunications systems including voice, data, and video.
- Assists with managing servers including maintaining Active Directory, Group Policy, and virtualization technologies.
- Assists with maintaining account creation/deletion for staff and students.
- Assists with supporting and maintaining backup solutions.
- Coordinates, consults, and assists contractors/vendors with specific network projects and problem resolution as required.
- Assists with the planning, designing, installation and maintenance of network systems.
- Diagnoses and repairs problems as they occur, including problems arising outside of regular business hours
- Assists with disaster recovery & critical incident responses.
- Assists in evaluating and recommending vendor products
- Other duties as assigned by the Information Technology Manager, Network Administrator, and/or Chief Information Officer
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 Months
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the East Hartford Public Schools’ s policy for non-certified staff.
