THE OPPORTUNITY
We’re on the hunt for a passionate and experienced
Assistant Venue Manager to join the leadership team at
Menzies Bar & Bistro, located on the ground floor of the iconic Shell House in Sydney's CBD.
This is a hands-on role for a true hospitality professional who thrives in a high-end, fast-paced environment and has a genuine love for service, leadership, and customer connection.
You’ll work alongside a dynamic and experienced team to deliver exceptional guest experiences, day and night. If you’re a strong communicator, natural leader, with a passion for food & beverage, we’d love to hear from you.
THE VENUE
Paying tribute to the legendary Menzies Hotel, The Menzies Bar is a vibrant, European-style bistro where history, hospitality and good times collide. Under the guidance of Culinary Director Joel Bickford, the menu features classic and contemporary European-inspired dishes, served from lunch through to late-night supper.
With a stylish New York–inspired fit-out, relaxed booths, and a buzzing CBD location, Menzies offers an exceptional food and beverage experience in a beautifully designed, welcoming space.
About You
You’ll bring energy, confidence, and a guest-first mindset to the floor. Ideally, you have:
- Proven experience in a similar high-end bar and restaurant environment
- A track record of leading, mentoring and motivating large teams (waitstaff, runners, bartenders)
- Strong operational and service-floor management skills
- Solid food and wine knowledge, with a passion for delivering exceptional service
- Experience in rostering, labour cost management, and budget control
- Confidence in end-of-day procedures including cash handling and venue close
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to adapt quickly
