Summary

The CCIU Assistant Manager of Safety & Security recommends and manages all efforts in support of providing safe facilities and training schedules for the CCIU and applicable personnel. The Assistant Manager of Safety and Security contributes daily to the efficient operations of the organization, and supports safe building operations at all CCIU locations. All job functions are executed through the lens of high quality customer service.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Assists in evaluating and assessing the organization’s safety programs and protocols.
  • Trained in all ICS levels and supports implementation of the ICS framework.
  • Aids in the development of Emergency Operations Plans (EOPs) and reunification plans.
  • Helps develop and implement new emergency and safety procedures.
  • Supports Safety Committees, including maintaining EOPs, scheduling drills, tracking compliance, maintaining life safety equipment, and ensuring emergency standards compliance.
  • Assists the Director in providing safety training and resources to staff and students, including scheduling with program leadership.
  • Tracks Act 55 training compliance, prepares monthly leadership reports, and communicates with individuals needing to complete training.
  • Supports implementation of safety and security policies across operations.
  • Assists with security evaluations for new facilities and conducts annual building security risk assessments.
  • Maintains communication with the Department of Education/Office of Safe Schools and other relevant agencies.
  • Assists the Grants Manager with safety-related data collection for reporting.
  • Provides recommendations and data to the Director for improvements within scope of responsibility.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Safety and Security.

Qualifications:

Education And Experience

  • Associate's degree in related field, or extensive experience in similar position required
  • Bachelor's degree strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of progressive experience in school safety support operations required
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with safety professionals, First Responders, IU Facilities Coordinator, and representatives of various governmental agencies.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and negotiate with vendors and IU personnel.

Professional or Other Required Clearances

  • Valid Driver’s License and current auto insurance required
  • Possession of a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiac Care Certification (AED) and First Aid certification within one year of employment or transfer to this position required
  • Certification as an Associate in Risk Management, Associate Safety Professional and/or Certified Protection Professional is desired strongly preferred.
  • Certified Protection Professional, CPTED Specialist strongly preferred.

Salary Range:

Project, Level 15

2024-2025 Range: $72,801 - $91,002/yr.

2025-2026 Range: $75,349 - $94,187/yr.

  • Placement on band is based on years of direct experience in a comparable role. 260 day position, 7.5 hours per day, 5 days per week
