Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Manager, Technical Operation (Occupational Safety & Health) undertake safety assessments and monitor a health and safety program to ensure the safe operations of the House of Dancing Water and all company events/ shows. Provide guidance and support to all departments and the safety committee. Also participate on the Melco Health and Safety Committee. Ongoing document control, company-wide processes and review of documentation produced by the teams to ensure SOPs are maintained.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Support daily activities within The House of Dancing Water and all company events/ shows.
  • Monitor and maintain the requirements of the Safety Management systems including incident reporting, investigation, and risk assessments.
  • Enforcing policies to establish a culture of health and safety.
  • Create incident report, root cause analysis and implementation of remedial and corrective actions.
  • Identify, evaluate, and implement improvement projects to eliminate hazards and risks.
  • Identify Safety & Health training requirements, participate in delivery of Safety & Health training.
  • Work on document control, numbering, filing, sorting and retrieval of electronically stored or hard copy documentation produced by the teams to ensure SOPs are maintained.
  • Undertake ongoing review and update of SOPs.
  • Investigate incidents involving near accidents, equipment damage and employee injuries.
  • Assist in managing the follow up of employee injuries, rehabilitation and worker’s compensation where applicable.
  • Ensure the accurate use of the Safety & Health database system for reporting, monitoring and reviewing of Incident reporting and investigations.
  • Oversee a Safety & Health audit program and carry out regular inspections / audits to ensure policies and procedures are being properly implemented.
  • Participate in the House of Dancing Water Safety & Health Committee
  • Participate in the Melco Resorts and Entertainment Health and Safety Committee representing HODW.
  • Liaise with Melco Occupational Safety & Health (OSH) Team
  • Liaise with Melco Security / Fire Safety & Emergency Response Teams regarding Medical and Fire Safety response, in the House of Dancing Water Theatre
  • Support the House of Dancing Water First Aid and First Responder programme.
  • Deliver timely, effectively, and best-practice emergency response service to all HODW staff and contractors, in the Theatre.
  • Document inspections of all evacuation / exit areas and fire safety equipment
  • Lead a review of company-wide processes by developing a complete and thorough flow chart and process documentation system.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Report accidents, injuries and unsafe work conditions to superiors and relevant departments.
  • Perform other reasonable job duties as assigned by Manager, Technical Operation (Occupational Safety & Health) from time to time.

Qualifications

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Fire Safety or Occupational Safety & Health or demonstration of extensive experience in safety aspects of a casino or theatre environment.

Education

  • Certificate in safety or engineering, or theatre-related experience.
  • Training in safety, risk management and safety auditing

Skills / Competencies

  • Being fluent in English is essential.
  • Being fluent in Chinese is essential.
  • Ability to produce reports and analysis of safety performance and statistics.
  • Working knowledge in PC skills and use of all MS Office applications, including Outlook and Power Point presentation
  • Possess onsite problem-solving skill to ensure smooth progress of works.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all levels of staffs, contractors, suppliers and vendors.
  • Ability to provide quick communication and immediate feedback to meet operation needs.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Must have updated emergency care knowledge and certification.
  • Desire and ability to receive first-aid instructor certification, plan and deliver training programs to HODW staff.
  • Basic knowledge of fire alarm and fire protection systems, reporting any issues to the appropriate department
  • Ability to work on flexible shifts including overnight weekends and holidays on rotation basis.
  • Ability to work on overtime when needed.
  • Good health, physically fit and excellence in personal grooming and presentation.
