The Laboratory Services Section of Campus Management Office is looking for a responsible, self-motivated and high-calibre individual to fill the position of Assistant Manager (Laboratory Services) to assist the Manager to perform the following duties:


  1. Lead the Mechanical/Carpentry team to handle all emergency calls, defect rectifications and minor installations that are related to carpentry, mechanical services and plumbing & drainage.
  2. Responsible to ensure statutory and code compliance for biosafety cabinet certification, Town gas installations, pressure vessels and lifting appliances (LD), nitrogen plants (FSD/DG), etc.
  3. Lead the technical team in ensuring all central plants and equipment are properly maintained and are modernized so to facilitate uninterrupted lab operation.
  4. Liaise with endusers regarding installation requests, provide any technical support, resolve complaints, etc.
  5. Manage the mechanical and carpentry workshops and maintain parts/tool inventory in the workshops and store.
  6. Manage team members' performance and deploy manpower (incl. external when required) to ensure reasonable backlog.
  7. Act as safety officer (DSO) for the section.


Applicants should hold a degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Building Services Engineering, along with at least 5 years of relevant experience. Alternatively, candidate with higher certificate/diploma and having at least 15 years of professional experience in laboratory, hospital or similar organization may also be considered. Demonstrated working experience in universities or institutional buildings, particularly hospitals and laboratories is highly desirable. The candidates should be proficiency in spoken and written English, Chinese and Putonghua with strong analytical and organizational skills. Effective communication, interpersonal abilities, strong sense of responsibility and work independently are essential. (Duration: 2 years, renewable)


Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
