This position directly supervises Direct Support Professionals and Developmental Disabilities Specialists assigned to the Day Program, Monday through Friday day shift, and is responsible for ensuring that staff is performing their assigned tasks/responsibilities. As appropriate, shall assist in and cover the operational management of the Residential and Day Program. Additional duties include data collections/oversight, report writing, observing individuals' behavior, and establishing a growth-producing rapport with Individuals and staff.
Essential Job Functions
- Supervise DDS and DSP staff, providing the opportunity for coaching and feedback.
- Conduct goal implementation observations as assigned.
- Provide input related to staff evaluations and the disciplinary process.
- Ensure that assigned Direct Support Professionals are actively involved providing quality active, ongoing, and enriching services for the Individuals in both on the grounds and in the community.
- Ensure that program participants are actively engaging in functional activities, and lesson plans are person-centered based on individuals' needs, skills and interests.
- Assist in the management and daily operation of the Day Program, as assigned by the Day Services Manager or ICF Coordinator.
- As assigned, provide oversight to ensure ongoing training occurs and when required, assist with the training, including the time oversight of Relias training.
- Provide oversight and management of assigned petty cash distribution from the Day Services Manager.
- In conjunction with the Residence Managers and Direct Support Professionals, ensure that residences are maintained in a safe and clean environment and that the Individuals are appropriately groomed and attired.
- As directed, assign Direct Support Professionals to report where needed, to ensure that the health and safety of the Individuals are maintained, and staffing minimums are met.
- Assist the Day Services Manager in overseeing and maintaining attendance records for subordinate staff assigned to the Monday through Friday day shift, including monitoring, and recording arrival and departure times.
- As directed, or in the absence of the Day Services Manager, act as liaison among the various departments, (Day Program, Health, Residential, Clinical and Maintenance).
- Represent the Day Services Manager as assigned on special committees such as the Daily rounds.
- As assigned, ensure that all IDT reports are completed based on department standards and report any issues or concerns to the Day Services Manager and/or the QI DPs.
- Orientate new employees to the program, including by reviewing assigned aspects of the welcome book and completing and submitting passport training.
- Ensure that the assigned transportation and staffing assignments for the AM andPM medical and off ground activities are carried out.
- Ensure that individuals receive their medication during day services.
- Participate in monthly staff meetings with DDS and DSP staff and in the absence of Day Service Manager, conduct said meetings.
- Conduct fire drills quarterly in the absence of the Day Services Manager.
- Monitor ICT vehicles for use, mileage, cleanliness, gas, and services.
- In conjunction with the Day Services Manager, ensure that adequate staff coverage is maintained for all ICF residences and Day Programs.
- Ensure that the cleanliness of the classrooms is maintained and report any maintenance issues utilizing the IFIX system.
- Ensure that program participants attend their medical appointments that are scheduled during program hours.
- Agree to follow federal, state, and local government regulatory guidelines about a safe, healthy, and clean work environment, reporting healthy and safety concerns to the supervisor.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency required.
- 1 -year supervisory experience and 3 years working with I/DD population.
- Valid Driver's license within Tri State (NY, NJ, CT) area.
- Must complete OPWDD Medication Certification Course (AMAP) at the discretion of the Department Head, CPR, and First Aid Course, and SCIP-R training.
- Must have the ability to work in a community setting providing instruction and guidance to adults with developmental disabilities.
- Must have successfully completed CPR/First Aid course and SCIP-R training. A medication certification requirement may be required for this position.
Physical Requirements
- This position is a non-sedentary role; requires a lot of time standing and walking.
- Able to lift 50 or more pounds. The ability to turn, lift, and assist individuals with movement.
- This position operates in a professional office environment.
- This position routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopier, filing cabinets and fax machines. Some filing is required, requiring the ability to move files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.
