Job Summary

The Assistant Director of Student Engagement and Leadership is responsible for developing programs, activities, and experiences that enhance student engagement at Regis University. This role supports all members of our diverse community, fostering a sense of belonging in alignment with our Catholic and Jesuit identity and our designation as a Hispanic-Serving Institution. The Assistant Director will collaborate with professional staff and student leaders to set goals, assess engagement efforts, create innovative programs, and serve as a liaison with other university departments critical to program implementation and success. Key areas of responsibility include university-wide programming, oversight of the Programming Board and Commuter Assistants, support for recognized student organizations, and management of the university's student engagement platform.

Essential

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Support of Registered Student Clubs and Organizations

  • Coordinate all aspects of the student organization recognition process, including application review, approval, onboarding, and leadership development for student leaders and advisors. Serve as a mentor, resource, and primary liaison between recognized student organizations and the university. Provide one-on-one mentorship, retreats, and training opportunities to support student leaders in their roles.
  • Collaborate with student leaders to assess organizational needs, set goals, develop programmatic schedules, and implement initiatives that align with the mission of the university and the Student Engagement and Leadership Office. Work closely with campus partners, including the Office of Community for Belonging, Wellness & Wellbeing, and academic dean's offices, to ensure student organizations receive the necessary resources and support for their success.

Program Supervision and Support

  • Programming Board Select, train, and supervise the Student Programming Board. Equip student leaders with the skills and knowledge needed to vision, plan, implement, and assess a comprehensive set of afternoon, evening, and weekend activities, events, and experiences. Develop a curricular training program to ensure student leaders are prepared to create programming that is reflective of and engaging to the diverse student body.
  • Commuter Assistants Select, train, and supervise Commuter Assistants, providing guidance and support for their role in engaging the commuter student population. Develop and implement a programming strategy that focuses on creating meaningful opportunities for commuter students to connect during weekdays and daytime hours. Ensure that events and activities meet the unique needs of commuter students, fostering a sense of inclusion and community.
  • Regis Undergraduate Student Government Association (RUSGA) Work closely with the Vice Presidents of the Executive Cabinet to provide support for clubs and organizations, ensuring their programs are successful and aligned with university goals. Advise the RUSGA Senate, helping them develop programming and legislation that reflects and supports the needs and interests of the student body. Foster collaboration between student government and campus organizations to create an engaged and inclusive campus community.
  • Regis Corps Support the Director of Student Engagement and Leadership in providing guidance to Regis Corps, helping to develop leadership and community service initiatives for students. May be asked to teach a leadership certificate course to help students build essential leadership skills. Collaborate with the Regis Corps team to create impactful programming that encourages student involvement in service and leadership development.

University-Wide Programming

  • Provide support, guidance, and mentorship to student leaders in the planning and execution of both established and new university-wide programming traditions that engage, include, and serve the diverse student body. These traditions include New Student Orientation, Fall and Spring Welcome Weeks, and Ranger Week. Ensure that all events align with the university's mission and promote a sense of community, inclusion, and belonging across campus.
  • Partner with University Advancement, Athletics, Marketing & Communication, and Parent & Family Programs to develop and implement programming that engage students, families, and alumni. Programs may include Blue & Gold Weekend, Christmas Tree Lighting, Easter Egg Hunt, and Trick-or-Treat Street.

Marketing, Outreach, and Event Supervision

  • Oversee all aspects of the student engagement platform and mobile application (Campus Groups/Ranger Central) to ensure effective communication and accessibility for students. Manage and coordinate event and activities calendars for RUSGA, Walker's Pub, and the Programming Board, ensuring accurate and timely promotion of campus events and initiatives.
  • Serve as a university representative at events sponsored by programs under advisement or supervision, attending, monitoring, and providing on-site support.
  • Assist in weekly communications to students focused on increasing student engagement

Minimum Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Degree in Higher Education or related field preferred.

Experience

  • 1 - 2 years of demonstrated achievement in Student Engagement/Activities/Affairs environment.
  • Experience planning and implementing large-scale programming.
  • Demonstrated teamwork, training and facilitation experience. Understanding of the developmental level and needs of college students.
  • Understanding of the structure of a university, its constituents, the needs of a campus community and the flow of information within a university structure.

Working Conditions

University business hours are 8:30am to 5:00pm; however, schedule is flexible/adjustable to support programming for a diverse student population. This could include nights and weekends as required to fulfill responsibilities of the position. (e.g. crises response, on call shifts.). Schedule subject to change.

Pay Rate

$23.55 - $25.48/hour commensurate with qualifications.
