Overview

The Assistant Controller is responsible for leading the daily accounting activity, producing financial reports and maintaining financial records, and general ledgers for all locations. The ideal candidate will be comfortable generating frequent financial reports for executive leadership. They should track financial information in a well-organized manner and assist the Controller in all aspects related to finance at the organization. This candidate should be comfortable analyzing balance sheets in order to forecast revenue and keep track of accounts payable and receivable.



Responsibilities

  1. Financial Reporting: Prepare and review financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
  2. Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborate with the Controller and finance team to develop annual budgets and periodic forecasts. Monitor and analyze budget-to-actual variances and provide recommendations for improvement.
  3. Month-End and Year-End Close: Lead month-end and year-end close processes, reconciling accounts, and preparing journal entries as needed.
  4. Internal Controls: Implement and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  5. Audit Support: Assist in the preparation of audit schedules and liaise with external auditors to facilitate annual financial audits.
  6. Financial Analysis: Analyze financial data, trends, and performance metrics to provide insights and recommendations to senior management for informed decision-making.
  7. Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with tax regulations, including the preparation and submission of tax returns.
  8. Team Collaboration: Work closely with the finance team, providing guidance and support to junior staff members as needed.
  9. Process Improvement: Continuously identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and efficiency enhancement within the finance function.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or relevant field
  • 5+ years experience in accounting
  • Strong technical, analytical, communication and presentation skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
