Cristo Rey Jesuit High School is seeking a dedicated and motivated Assistant Coach to support our boys basketball program. The Assistant Coach supports the Varsity Head Coach in all aspects of the program, including practice planning, player development, game strategy, character development, and team culture. This candidate must demonstrate strong leadership, basketball knowledge, and a commitment to both academic and athletic excellence.
This position is a seasonal position that primarily works from October 2025 to January 2026 (dates to be determined), requires occasional travel to events, and is paid a biweekly stipend.
About The Role
As an Assistant Coach in the Educational Services industry, you will play a crucial role in supporting the development and success of student athletes. Your primary responsibility will be to assist the Head Coach in all aspects of the team's operations, including practice planning, game strategy, and player development. By providing guidance, mentorship, and motivation, you will help student athletes reach their full potential both on and off the field. Your dedication and expertise will contribute to the overall success of the team and the positive impact it has on the lives of the student athletes.
Responsibilities
- Planning and conducting practices, drills, and conditioning sessions
- Ability to provide 1:1 instruction during practice periods
- Assist in developing games strategies, scouting reports, and in game decisions making
- Providing a safe and positive space that promotes discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork
- Supervision of athletes during practices, games, and other team related activities
- Contribute to team selection and evaluations
- Monitoring academic sessions
- Assist with equipment inventory and or any other team operations
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Previous High School coaching or competitive playing experience
- Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategy, and player development
- Ability to work evenings and weekends
- Must agree to pre-employment criminal background checks and complete Archdiocese studenty safety training and sign Code of Conduct agreement

- Experience coaching or educational background
- Mentoring experience
